We stayed at the Moorea Pearl and loved it but I have heard such great things about the Sheraton also...I don't think you can go wrong at either hotel!
Enjoy! I wish I could go back!!!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

We are considering FP for our Honeymoon. When we discuss Bora Bora the questions always comes up about skinny dipping. Those of you that have been to BB have you done this? Is it illegal?

It just seems too easy with the over water bungalows. Take off you clothes and jump off the back deck.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Hey Girls
we went to BB and stayed @ the St. Regis over water bungalow.
Bora Bora was amazing and the hotel/spa resort was very breathtaking.
Be prepared to shell out the BIG BUCKS for this particular resort.
I figured we would never go again so we saved for the years we were together and also using our Amex points from starwood hotels.

I have lots of info on this amazing place if you want feel free to FM me. I will be posting my HM pix soon.

FYI - We took a flight to CA and stayed over one night. I am a bad flyer so it gave me a break not being on the plane as long and we had a chance to catch up the w/time difference.

Air Tahiti has a habit of canceling flights be sure to keep checking them as you go along after they are booked.

We had to stay overnight in Tahiti for one night and choose the Le Meridian.
BIG MISTAKE
I highly recommend not going here! C- rating
Not American friendly , speak mostly french and the Tahitian language. Needs updates , room smelt musty and we had the presidential suite.
Also when we arrived a local Tahitian wedding was going on .Loud music till late night after just flying in,little children running all around naked the next day at breakfast and throwing sand at you. Menus all in French.
Hardly relaxing, we could NOT wait to get to BB!
Water was also very mucky ,cloudy and disturbed looking, not glass like BB.

The four seasons is coming to BB in 08' we saw it being built nxt to ST. Regis. I bet it will give St. Regis a run for their money with the competition. Prob prices will drop! Can't wait for Brides reviews on that!!!

We had a lovely romantic Dinner at Villa Mahana
in Bora Bora.

Its a very small restaurant and you need to make reservations before hand and they will come to your hotel to pick you up. Oh, and ask for upper table.

I enclosed the Email Address for Damien (he is the chef and owner)

damien_rinaldi@villamahana.com
Enjoy your Honeymoon!

Just make sure that at the Sheraton Moorea you don't stay in a garden bungalow (it's a SHARED bungalow - two rooms separated by one THIN wall). Stay in a Superior Garden Bungalow or better category.
Congrats!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

hi ladies,
I'm deciding between tahiti, and borabora or doing the all three island, tahiti, bora bora, and moorea. How many days do we need? say for a 11 or 12 days trip, will 10K be enough? I just want to do over the water at one island.

I have heard that if we don't take the direct flight to tahiti from jfk, then i don't have to spent a night at tahiti at all. is tahiti worth the stay?

one TA actaully suggested to stay at tahiti for 3 or 4 nights, is that too much? would we be bored there??
sorry for so many questions!!

im really hoping to book this trip also! If we both do, we will be there the same time haha...but if you read through this whole thread you can get a TON of info! Ive heard tahiti is the worst of the three so id try to stay there the shortest amount and spend more days at the other two!

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

Anyone been to Sofitel Tahiti resort and Sofitel moorea beach resort and intercontinental le moana resort??

5 nights in moora ( garfen bungalow)and 4 night in bora bora (overwater lagoon bungalow) , what is a good price?

moora hotel breakfast and dinner are included (MAP?) and bora bora only breakfast.

We stayed 2 days at the intercontinental in Tahiti. We loved it!

Not sure if you are going to the Sofitel in Bora Bora. But I do not recommend that you stay there. We had an over water bungalow....and the water just wasn't as clear as in Moorea and Tahiti!
We were very disappointed in that hotel.

Re: French Polynesia (Tahiti, Bora Bora, etc.) Honeymoons!!!!!!

what do you ladies think of this quote:

all flights included from JFK (nonstop) & interisland

4nights at Sheraton Moorea - OWB (breakfast & dinner included)

4 nights at Intercontinental Thalasso Bora Bora - OWB (breakfast and dinner)

11,500

vs:

same stay in Moorea but
Bora Bora either Le Meridien, Pearl OWB with food
for 10,500
Im debating which one to go with

I honestly think the quote for 11.5k is pretty good.

Those are both top hotels.. we didn't stay at the sheraton moorea but we went there for activities & it seemed awesome.

We did stay at the Thalasso in bora bora & it was gorgeous!

I think the extra 1k for these 2 hotels is worth it.

Price sound great.

We stayed at the Moorea Sheraton OWB in Dec. 06. It was quite lovely. They were doing construction when we were there. i can't imagine how much nicer it will be. have a great time!

I'd go with this one and choose the bora bora Pearl (owb). We LOVED this resort!

Also, i'd eliminate having dinner included... there are way too many great places to go eat, you don't want to be stuck eating at the resort every night (and then if you don't eat there it'll be a waste of money). I'd keep breakfast in there though, we ate breakfast every morning at each resort. Good luck in your decision... either way you're going to have an amazing time!
