My DH's 30th fell on a Tuesday last year, he is not big on bdays (unlike me we went to Cancun for my 30th and got engaged that day)....I got together of group of his/our friends to meet at a brew pub (has over 1,000 types of beers) for dinner/drinks. Been to many surprise 30th bday parties though!

Funny ... must be another generational thing ... I've NEVER been to a 30th birthday party, none of my friends had one and I can barely even remember what I did on mine and DH & I started dating two days after his ...

DH's 30th was less than 10 days from the bar exam for me, so I took him out to dinner. It was really a stressful time for me.
His brother, who was also his best man, promised DH to have his batchelor party and b-day party all in one on his birthday, so I left it up to my BIL, well the party was not good, and DH was REALLY upset. So I guess I blew it on having a good b-day for my DH. But I had purchased him a PSP for his b-day present so he was ok with it.

we're both turing 30 next year (2-months apart) so we are going on a cruise. No parties for us

I met DH LONG after his 30th But, we talked about having a small party and going on a trip for his next 'big' birthday.

My friends surprised me with an get together at a bar for my 30th. Someone slipped up and told me about it ahead of time and I invited other people to come, so the hostess was the one who ended up surprised!

Dh says he might not want a party b/c this whole year has been all about the wedding - i guess he feels funny having hisf riends spend more money on him being wedding was so soon. i think eh's crazy! he spends SO much on his friends for their birthdays it would be nice for him to receive some as well!

I gave my DH a 12 year olds b-day complete with baloons, ice cream cake and a playstation. It was to remind him that even though he was turning 30 he was still a kid a heart. For mine in January, he is throwing me a big bash.

That is what we did for my friends. I don't want to do anything big for mine next year, maybe a small party with my friends (hopefully it will be a surprise party, I've always wanted one).
