Re: Wedding & Credit Cards

We haven't put anything on our credit cards. It is all from our checking/savings account....Can you put the honeymoon on a debit card?

Re: Wedding & Credit Cards

We put as much as we can on our credit cards. We have several at 0% for balance transfers & purchases, so we're taking advantage of this. As soon as the wedding is over we're paying it all off before the 0% runs out!

Re: Wedding & Credit Cards

We put some stuff, but paid it off right away. If you're only using it for a down payment and plan on paying it back immediately, I say go for it.

Re: Wedding & Credit Cards

yea maybe..we can do that and pay it off with our next 2 checks.

carnival is having a sale (200 off per person) on the cruise we want and need 600. We dont have it this week because we just purchased plane tickets to come home in November.

Re: Wedding & Credit Cards

We paid the deposit for the HM with a credit card. I wanted the points. I just made sure that I paid it off right away. If Carnival is having a sale, I say book it with the credit card and just try your hardest to pay it off immediately.

Re: Wedding & Credit Cards

I've put a lot of the deposits on a CC because I've heard if the place goes out of business or something happens, its much easier for you to get your $$ back.

I would put it on your card if you really want to go!

Re: Wedding & Credit Cards

Nothing, yet. The yet part is because I haven't done any online ordering yet. All our deposits however have been paid by check with $$$ that was in the bank (no overdraft borrowing).

Re: Wedding & Credit Cards

i think we might end up putting the rest of the honeymoon on cc and our rings. because we are in the process of buying a place.

we will pay this off as soon as we get back from our hm.

Re: Wedding & Credit Cards

Nothing. We paid in cash. It was a choice we made to not go into credit card debt for the weeding, because we wanted to buy a house within a year or 2 after the wedding. Since we knew we had to pay for everything ourselves, we kept constant tabs on how much $$ was available for the wedding as we were planning.

ETA: By cash I mean my Visa check card, so the deposits & purchases were still protected. We had an account just for wedding expenses.

it is a good idea- you should always charge travel- it gives you the most recourse in case something happens

I charged mine on my Amex- it will be paid for before we leave- but if anything gies wrong- I can dispute the trip easier then if we paid cash
