MACY's Bridal Salon *****!

I couldn't believe how horrible their customer service was.

My friend and I who are getting married around the same time went to try on dresses there and were told over the phone that they would be able to help us both. When we got there the lady was so rude and told us that they cannot do that...she said it like we were suppose to know that.

Then when my friend was trying on dress this lady wasn't even helping her get into her dresses, or making any suggestions. She kept dissappearing and me and my friend ended up picking out the dresses she wanted to try on.

It seem like we were bothering them and they could not be bothered with helping us.

What really pissed me off was it was my friends first dress shopping experience and I wanted her to enjoy it and it was so unpleasant.

Re: MACY's Bridal Salon *****!

I went to the one in Manhattan and I had a decent experience. Nothing to jump about but the girl I dealt with was attentive and even pulled a dress off of a mannequin for me. She didn't rush me and made suggestions. I almost bought my dress for my recently postponed wedding there.

Re: MACY's Bridal Salon *****!

I went to the one in Manhasset and had a pretty good experience- my only one tho- I bought my dress that day! I was told by another bride there (and countless others after the fact) that you don't have half of the hastles you can get with mom-and-pop stores. My DJ said the same thing last night! (he got married himself a few months ago).

My girls got 15% off their dresses but alterations are extra. I don't know if their prices are fair as I have nothing to compare it to.

I had to keep calling them because I have 2 out of town girls who had to get measured at other Maycs (NJ and PA) and they were always very nice and helpful. (and I called a few times in a day sometimes!) I just called because I never asked for a swatch and they never suggested it- and they were very happy to help tho.

I'm sorry that you had a bad exp! I'd call and tell them.

Re: MACY's Bridal Salon *****!

I had the exact same experience at the one in Manhasset. There are so many wonderful dress places...and Macy's (for me) just wasn't one of them.

Re: MACY's Bridal Salon *****!

I went to the one in Smithaven, and they left me alone. No one offered to help, but I preferred that. I tried them on with my mother's help, then left. Certainly not attentive or helpful, but not overtly rude.

Re: MACY's Bridal Salon *****!

I had a HORRIBLE experience at Smithhaven...I wound up getting my own dresses and then overheard them talking about me (like, 'someone who helped HERSELF is in that room') while I was trying them on. It was awful.

Re: MACY's Bridal Salon *****!

For my FH's sister's wedding, us girls got our dresses from Smithhaven Macy's. The first time I went, I had a nasty lady who told me I was shaped like a pear! (I'm not but even if I were, who cares??) When I went to pick up my dress, there were small pulls in the chiffon overlay and they were trying to tell me it was my fault...like I grabbed it off the hanger and did it while I was standing in front of them! I think customer service is not always the best but it probably depends on who takes care of you.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience with them. I had a wonderful experience with the one in Manhasset too. My saleslady was Betty and she was very attentive and helpful. When there was a dress I wanted to try on but they didn't have in store, they even ordered a sample from another location and had it sent here for me to try on.

Re: MACY's Bridal Salon *****!

I went to the one in SmithHaven and dealt with LuAnn. She was great! She's getting married soon herself, so she knows what we're going through. She was attentive without being pushy, very helpful, and knew her stuff. I didn't like the other women who were working there so much, they were suggesting veils and tiara's that didn't work with my dress, and didn't even realize that I was trying on the dress without the train (the part that made me realize this was my dress!!) LuAnn walked right over and said that I didn't have the train on, and brought it right over and put it on, and brought over 2 veils and 2 tiaras saying that they would go the best with the dress, and waited until I had tried on both until saying which she thought went best with the dress (which my mother and I agreed on). She is just amazing!!!! If you are going to the Macy's in SmithHaven, definately make your appointment with LuAnn!!! She's the best!!!

I had Betty too! Also, I messed up my appointment time and was there at 12:00 while my apt was for 4:30 (silly me!) and they had no problem helping me at 12! They weren't swamped so I'm sure that helped- I'd have understood if they were busy and made me come back but they were great!! Another sales lady helped a lot too.

I went back with my MOH who insisted on trying on dresses at 9:00 pm without an apt and the girl (Katrina, I think) helped us out without a problem and was VERY patient- I was impressed b/c after working in retail I know some people get annoyed at customers who do that.

Re: MACY's Bridal Salon *****!

Definately do not go to the one in the city. They totally messed up my dress (much of the beading had fallen off and I was there every day the week before my wedding to have them fix it and it never was done right. Also, my bustle came down in the middle of our wedding.

Also, the sales staff was VERY RUDE>

Betty's awesome. She was incredibly sweet and patient wehn I was undecided between 2 dresses, and I think that's partly why I got my dress from there. I know I'm going to be taken care of.
