Color of BM Dresses

I was thinking Navy blue for the BM dresses. FMIL thinks it will look too dark especially with a large wedding party (8 girls) and that it wont come out nice in pictures. She likes a champagne/gold color. If it were a spring/summer wedding I would definitley do a light pink b/c that is my favorite but I dont know if its a good color for november. What do you think? Can anyone post pics of their girls in navy dresses?

I'm at work so I don't have pics but my girls are wearing navy. I have a pic of one of the girls fittings that I can post later if you'd like. I LOVE how they look.

I was in a wedding in October and we wore navy blue dresses and the boquets were orange and blue flowers. Wish I had pics scanned, but it was really pretty and it is flattering on everyone. It was by Bill Levkoff.

check the pics johnny&maur posted of her wedding. we wore navy and the dresses were beautiful! they stood out in pictures and looked gorgeous. i was thinking of champagne dresses for my july wedding but feel they don't give the same feel that darker colors do.

it's not FMIL's wedding. she had hers already. you do what YOU want.

My BP is wearing NAVY. There are 5 of them. I agree it can be dark but consider the fabric as well. A satin or a silk would show up very different than a crepe or a chiffon. It simply cathes the light better. If you take pictures outside, you should have no problems. If you take pictures inside, just make sure there are enough lights set up by your photographer.


Allt he girls are wearing different dreses by Bill Levkoff in Euro Navy Satin and even the pictures on line have the satin looking different. The color is most like the last one.

Navy blue would have been my choice if I had a fall or winter wedding. I think it's so elegant.

I am doing purples and blues with hints of cream (but not too much) for my flowers, but pink and cream roses ALSO look very nice with navy. Here is a very very very scaled down version of my flowers. The florist simply grabbed a bunch and gave them to use to take home after we booked. AND I ordered an extra yard of fabric to use as I wish but the salon sales person suggested to use it to wrap the stems of the BP bouquets. I LOVED that idea. Just a suggestion.

I think that navy is an awesome color and it looks good on a lot of people. I was originally going to do navy and planned on having my girls carry yellow calla lillies - so pretty

It's your wedding and if you want them to wear navy, I would have the BM's wear navy.

Hi wedding twin! I was originally going to go with a deep blue color like royal blue or something close to it. Now that we've finally decided on which season we want, I'm also looking at Fall colors like a wine-red or burgundy. Not taking blue out of the consideration but also looking at other options. With the color that your FMIL is suggesting, you have to think about whether or not all of the girls will look good. Also, it's our wedding so do what YOU want!

Mine are wearing black and I have 7 BM. Black is my favorite color and that's what I wanted. Who cares that I'm getting married in the Spring? Many of them thanked me for my color choice because they can reuse a black dress.

I have been to at least 5 weddings where the girls wore navy blue and I think it is very pretty for a fall wedding. You can brighten it up by having some lighter colored flowers.

I considered Navy and I love the burgandy but wanted something a little different so I went with Eggplant. I also have a lot of BM and 2 MOH. The MOH have ivory tops and the BM have ivory at the top and waist tie. I hope it looks as good as I imagine!

I almost regret getting Navy after looking at these pics! Go for it! It's your wedding not your FMIL. You'll stand out better in pics too.
