DIY photo album?
Is anyone planning to do this, or have you done it? If so, do you recommend an online vendor of leather albums, or just very pretty and elegant albums? The thought of spending $900 for an album through a photographer with 24 pictures in it makes me cringe when I'mgoing to get a CD with images and can get 8x10s printed at shutterfly for $2 each and assemble it on my own. I know it's our wedding and we should have a very nice momento, but our budget is rapidly depleting and I think I could do a good job if I knew of a good source for an album... thoughts? thanks ladies :)

Re: DIY photo album?
I plan on making my own albums. The technology today makes this EXTREMELY simple. If you are getting the CD with your images, just make sure they are Hi-Res.list of helpful links

Re: DIY photo album?
Laurie,Thanks! that link looks great
My only hesitation is that I've had a bad experience with Walmart's photo center. I am very techincally savvy, and when I uploaded my pictures online the print preview was just fine, but when I picked them up some of the heads were chopped off and the only explanation they could give me was that the quality of my images must have been 'too good -- images that are too big show up normal in the preview, but the computer prints them based on memory' .... does anyone have any insight on that?

Re: DIY photo album?
try your luck using shutter fly or ophoto - they are much better sites then walmart - or trying making a book with mypublisher (i have made one- it came out great)

Re: DIY photo album?
I know on Ofoto there is a separate box I have to check off if I want them to auto fit and crop my photos. Does Walmart do that? That may be the issue.

Re: DIY photo album?
If anyone's using mypublisher, I know I saw a coupon somewhere online for $50 off orders of $100+ recently...Are the pages in a mypublisher album like a magazine or are they thicker like the albums we've been seeing at photographers?

Re: DIY photo album?
This is such a great idea! Thanks for posting the question, and thank you to the girls who responded.I think I'm going to do this with a bunch of our vacation photos. I think it's a great way to display them, rather than in a plain old photo album.
Now I know how I'm spending my weekend

Re: DIY photo album?
We are having an engagement dinner in 2 weeks... I think I'll take the pictures from there and do a small mypublisher.com book and see how it comes out before I decide that I'm definitely going to forego the professional album...
