i just took a class in english and we studied this.....
You could try looking up stuff from Byron. Samuel Coleridge also used a lot of dark imagery in his writings. If I can think of anymore Ill update you.

The last line:

I love this poems, and the basic gist is that the only thing that saves humans from ourselves is death.

keats and shelley also wrote some dark poems
I second shelley. Lots of Victorian era poets were dark.
