Opinions for day of Wedding timeline...
Hi all,I've been going back and forth with FMIL about this since the day we booked the hall, so I need some other opinions...
We are getting married on a Friday in June '06. Because it's a Friday, I've booked the Church for 6pm and the hall CH to start at 8:30pm. FMIL wants me to move up the Church time to 4pm or 5pm so that we can take pics before CH starts. What do you guys think? I kind of want people at the actual ceremony and not just showing up for the food! The ceremony is the important part!!! But FMIL wants us to take alot of pics somewhere other than the catering hall. We're at Jericho Terrace which has some nice photo spots, but not tons. Please tell me what you would do...

It's hard for people to make it to a 6PM ceremony, much less a 4 or 5PM one. I think you need to figure out which is more important - having people at the ceremony or the pics. If you're done at the church at 7PM and if the drive isn't too long, could you have time to stop off somewhere and take pics?

Re: Opinions for day of Wedding timeline...
the people who want to be there will be there regardless of the time. if getting pics done before coctail hour is important to YOU than move up the ceremony, but don't let anyone talk you into anything you aren't sure of. ~lacey

The Church and the hall are about 10 minutes apart so we could definitely stop. But since it's only 1 and half hours of pic time, FH wants to go straight to the hall. I don't know what to do.

Okay first of ALL this is YOUR DAY!!!
let's see.... Do you want to attend your CH?
IF not.. then have all of your family pics done within that hr b4 the CH.
Then you family can leave for the CH and then the BP will then start taking their pics and then by the time you are down should have about 1/2 hr to freshen and eat b4 the reception starts.
I really want to make my grand entrance at the reception and not at the CH.... doesn't have the same effect.

Would it be possible for you to take pictures with your FH and family at the church before the ceremony? I know some people find it taboo to see each other before the ceremony- but this way, you and your family and bridal party could take all of the pictures, and not miss out on the CH, and it would be easier for guests to make it to the ceremony. My husband and I took pictures before the ceremony and did a 'first meeting' where we saw each other for the first time.

Re: Opinions for day of Wedding timeline...
Our church is at 4 and our CH at 8 so we have time to take pics. The people that are going to work the full day wont make it to the ceremony no matter what time so we would rather stretch our day out a little.

I think I'll push the ceremony up to 4pm. I guess you guys are right that 4pm or 6pm doesn't matter, everyone working will still have trouble getting to the ceremony. Then maybe stop at Old Westbury gardens for an hour to take pics. Here's how I see it going...4pm-5pm Ceremony
5:30-6:00 Church pics
6:30-7:30 OWB gardens pics
7:30-8:30 JT pics
8:30pm CH begins
I hope that if our friends and family love us enough, they will take the day off or at least only work 1/2 a day. Now to convince FH of the idea...
