Friday night wedding question

Our wedding is going to be on a Friday night. What time would u start the ceremony and CH for there to be enough time in between church and CH to stop and take pics, but also not so early that no one can attend the ceremony?

Re: Friday night wedding question

we're having a friday night also... I think it depends on how far away your church is from the reception hall.. mine is a decent ride so I'm not expecting a TON of people at the ceremony.. Our ceremony starts at 3:30pm and our cocktail hour starts at 7:30pm... we should be out of church btw 4:30 and 5.. and then it is about a 45 min trip to our reception.. so we should arrive btw 5:30 amd 6pm and have a good 1hr and a half for pics... but if you start your cocktail hour at 7..that could probably work too... the thing is.. a lot ofg people will be coming from work maybe.. so i wanted to push it back an extra half hour and we want to attend our cocktail hour & have plenty of time to get the photos done.... a lot of reception halls will serve your guests cocktails while they wait for the actual cocktail hour to begin.

Re: Friday night wedding question

My wedding is on a Friday too. I am having the church at 3:30 and the reception/cocktail hour starts at 7:30. The church is about 30-40 minutes away from the hall too. I wanted to have plenty of time to take pics and to go to the local beach and takes pics there and be done by 7:30. I also took into account rush hour on Friday. Something us Friday brides have to consider. HTH

Re: Friday night wedding question

BTW- don't worry about people not attending the ceremony, they can take a half day at work or just take off. They will be there if they really want to to be. Make the ceremony anytime you want, it's your day. You need time for pics.

Re: Friday night wedding question

Our ceremony is at 4 and the CH starts at 7...our church and hall are only about 20 minutes apart, so we will have plenty of time to go to the beach to take pics, then get to the hall a little early to do more pics on the grounds.

Re: Friday night wedding question

I am getting married on a Friday night too. My ceremony is at 3:30 and the cocktail starts at 7pm, which gives plenty of time in between. As for people attending, I wouldn't worry to much. I look at it as if I am important to them, then they will show up.
