NWR - I threw every student in my class out of the room today

Sorry - just had to vent. This particular class had been getting on my nerves - students missing class, not participating, etc. . . and then today NOT ONE of them had actually read the play assigned.

So I threw them all out of the room, telling them it was pointless for me to go through my prepared lesson since no one read it. Some of the nice students seemed genuinely sorry for not being prepared, but honestly I was so mad I didnt want to hear their excuses.

I'm sorry, but some students (at all levels) have these unbelievable senses of entitlement - like just showing up is enough. GRRRR.

This is supposed to be college!!!!!!!!!!

My next class had better be prepared or I think I'll explode!

I work in a college too, and sometimes I'm just shocked at the lack of concern about anything! Good for you standing up to them!

Wish i could do that in 4th grade but I think thats probably illegal ...no?

In college, everyone I knew used to go by the idea that as long as you show up, youll get the 3 credits

Show those Arses what real work is and what they need to do to succeed

what class are you teaching? Is the play any good?

You know, I teach college level also and it amazes me sometimes what happens with them. I recieved a paper last week that was visibly soiled with bodily waste (it smelled and all). And now that we have the electronic blackboard they feel like they do not have to take notes or come to class.... I have 25 students in one of my classes and I had 8 today...

I am a high school teacher and I thought that when these students went to college that the lack of effort ended and they actually started to try. Sorry to hear that, that is not the case.

I wish I could kick all of my students out one day...but they are only 3 and I don't think that their parents would be too happy with me

Thanks for all of your support!!!!!!

It's funny how you can have a class where just about everyone really pays attention, works hard, shows up, is engaged, etc. . . .and then you can have another class where just about everyone shrugs off the assignments and pretty much just stares vacantly while you try and teach.

After a good day teaching I'm on cloud nine and NOTHING can bring me down - but after a bad day teaching - I'm pretty miserable.

It's so nice to be able to vent to such supportive women!
