Re: Saturday Afternoon Wedding

I think the same thing you would wear to any wedding. Im having a saturday wedding and I expect everyone to be dressed just like they would for a saturday night wedding. Its not any less dressy.

Re: Saturday Afternoon Wedding

I posted on NWR, but i'll post here, too!

I'd most likely wear a black dress. Not necessarily a long one, but a nice one. enjoy!

Re: Saturday Afternoon Wedding

I don't think the time of day should dictate what you wear to a wedding. The bride and groom probably want everyone to be formally dressed. Wear what you would wear to any wedding.

Re: Saturday Afternoon Wedding

I had a Saturday afternoon wedding and I expected everyone to be dressed in cocktail attire (suits for men, knee length dresses for women), with the exception of our immediate families. I would never wear an evening gown in the afternoon.

Agreed. I would feel silly wearing an evening gown in the daylight. (of course if you can find one less dressy it could work)

i agree with this....i would not wear a long gown to an afternoon wedding. i think a guy could even get away w/ a suit w/o a tie.

Re: Saturday Afternoon Wedding

I would wear a knee-length or tea-length dress. I don't think 'evening gowns' are appropriate for daytime affairs. But I'm very particular about style etiquette. And I have to absolutely disagree with the brides that feel the time of day doesn't have anything to do with what you wear, it does or at least it should. I recently attended a daytime wedding, it was lovely, most female guests were dressed in knee-length dresses except for two, one wore a long red gown and the other a black beaded gown, both stood out and looked inappropriate.

Re: Saturday Afternoon Wedding

I don't think you should wear a beaded gown but I do think you should get dressed up and that you can still wear a dress that is floor length.

I would think that all the men would still wear a suite with at tie, I think it's only appropriate.

Re: Saturday Afternoon Wedding

A nice dress that's at least knee lenght would be appropriate. Obviously, you don't want to dress casually, but I think, as others have said before me, an evening gown would be way too much. I'm having an afternoon wedding and I would expect that everyone show up in cocktail attire (and men SHOULD wear ties!).
