Friday Ceremony/Reception same site

If you are having your ceremony and reception at the same site on a Friday night, what time would you start the ceremony? I checked the sunset time for the night of our wedding and it is 7:42 PM. I thought the ceremony should start at 6, but the photographer thought 5 or 5:30. I should add we are not seeing each other before the ceremony.

I want mine to be 6pm. We are seeing each other before the ceremony, we might change it to 7pm. Drag it out a little.

Re: Friday Ceremony/Reception same site

We are having a Friday night ceremony/reception at East Wind:

6:30 - Ceremony
7:00 - 8:30 - CH
8:30 - 12:30- Reception

June 23 (our wed date) is like one of the longest days of the year. I'm just concerned with guests getting out to the East End (in the summer) in time for the ceremony.

ETA: We are seeing each other before the ceremony. We are doing pics near my parents' house (weather permitting), and getting picked up around 3:30-4:00 so we can take more pics at East Wind. Once we begin the ceremony, we want all formal pics to be over.

Re: Friday Ceremony/Reception same site

we're having the ceremony at 6:30. ch at 7. reception 8-12. we are doing pics before, prob start at 4:30, that will give our photographer an 1 1/2 to get all the pics done and a 1/2 to spend in the bridal suite before to relax. ~lacey

Re: Friday Ceremony/Reception same site

Hi Date twin..I checked too. My church is starting at 5pm and reception 7pm. I wanted some pics before it got cold and dark. I would do it earlier. Is that an option??

Re: Friday Ceremony/Reception same site

If you're not going to see each other before the ceremony, you may want to extend your CH to an hour and a half so you have plenty of time for pics and you may even make the tail end of the CH.
As for timing, my friends did a Fri. night wedding and they had the ceremony from 6:30-7:00 and the reception from 7-midnight. But they saw each other during the day for pics so they were able to attend the CH.

Same here-we also want to make sure we get sme pictures in before sunset/cold, etc. We can start pretty much anytime we want-i.e it doesn't matter if we start at 5:30 or 6, the place is ours for the night.

Does anyone think it will make a difference to guests-do you think 6 is better or no different than 5:30 from the guests perspective? I'm thinking along the lines of those who are taking 1/2 days from work. Does an extra 30 minutes or an hour make any difference?

Thanks, but you should definitely talk to your photographer before settling on a time-to make sure that you can get the kinds of pictures you want, lighting, scenery, etc.

Re: Friday Ceremony/Reception same site

I got married on a Friday night- I always think the later the better for guests so they don't have to leave work too early.

My ceremony was at 7.30, cocktail hour 8-9, reception 9-1
