Calling all honeymooners!!

Ok, this is getting to be quite confusing for me to decide where is the best, most beautiful, most fun place to go for a honeymoon.

Originally we were thinking Sandals Grande in St. Lucia. But after doing some research and upon reading a FEW bad reviews, I'm second guessing my choice It seems like the more research I do, the more confused I get!

Does ANYONE have ANY reviews, or suggestions that might help make my decision a bit easier?

We are looking for an all-inclusive place for 2 weeks staring Oct. 9th. It doesn't have to be a party place, but we're looking for a good social atmosphere with things to do during the day (water activites, fishing, golf, etc.) and good food is important.

THANK YOU LADIES!!!

Re: Calling all honeymooners!!

I change my mind so much to the point where FH doesn't want to go near me if I bring up the HM!!!

I was looking into Secrets and Couples because a lot of the Sandals get mixed reviews, and one TA told me it's mainly younger couples, of which a lot of them get rowdy and some cannot hold their liquor.

Oh my goodness! That was the hardest thing to plan so far! It feels so nice once you book something. Good luck! Whatever you chose, will be a nice vacation, I'm sure

Re: Calling all honeymooners!!

We're doing Dreams (all inclusive) in Cabo San Lucas. We've been to Cabo before and had a great time. It's beautiful and there were plenty of daytime & nightime activities (even in off season). We didn't stay at Dreams when we were there in 2000 but everything I've seen/heard looks great. We can't wait!

Re: Calling all honeymooners!!

I had the same problem with St. Lucia. I've heard amazing things and I've heard some bad things. At the end of the day the good outweighed the bad. Bottom line is you're going to be in bliss anyway, make the best of it. I say stay with St. Lucia, you'll have an awesome time!!

Re: Calling all honeymooners!!

FH and I are having the same problem! We agreed on Sandals St. Lucia but then he did some searches online for more info on the island and wasnt thrilled with what he found...not much to do if you leave the resort. So now he's looking into the Virgin Islands (St John and St Thomas) all inclusive places and I'm pretty sure this is where we'll end up.

Re: Calling all honeymooners!!

I think we're changing our minds from St. Lucia to Aruba.

I'm just getting nervous about everyone saying there's 'nothing to do'. Not that we're looking to party, but it's nice to have the option of some nightlife, if we get in the mood.

SO... it looks like St. Lucia's out and Aruba's in!

Now watch, I'll start doing research for there and freak out again!

Re: Calling all honeymooners!!

We're going to Aruba! It's out of the Hurricane belt, has endless activities and great restaurants, casinos, shopping in town, snorkeling, boat tours, etc...plus gorgeous water and pool areas in the bigger hotel - or you can look into the lowrise hotels if you prefer a more relaxing atmosphere. have fun choosing!!

Re: Calling all honeymooners!!

HA! You sound just like FH and I did when we were trying to decide. The HM was by FAR the most difficult decision. We must have changed our minds about 50 times before FINALLY booking Couples, Negril. We did a ton of research on all different resorts. Couples has very high ratings and rave reviews on tripadvisor.com.

And I'm going to be there in 1 WEEK!!!

Re: Calling all honeymooners!!

We're all over the place - we were going to go to French Polynesia on the Paul Gauguin, but then we changed our mind. We've been looking into the Caribbean, like Anse Chastanet in St. Lucia, Four Seasons Nevis, Peter Island Resort, Ladera St. Lucia, and Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda. As I scour the internet for 'best honeymoon destinations' every day, my list keeps growing and growing.

I think that two weeks at any one place would be too much. I wouldn't take a vacation for that long on an island. I would do that in Europe or South America or on a cruise, however.

ETA: We may be the only ones who didn't like Aruba as much as everyone else that has gone there has. 'The island that never rains' poured for two days, but whatever, it was only in short spurts. We rented a Jeep and drove all over the island and saw literally everything. We had a decent time and it was nice, but I wouldn't go back there. Curacao is more fun than Aruba, in my opinion.

We just came back from our HM at Dreams in Cabo and it was wonderful. We originally booked the RIU but, after reading some bad reviews on it, switched to Dreams. You won't be disappointed. Each restaurants is better than the other and the service was amazing.

Re: Calling all honeymooners!!

One couple we know went to Sandals, St. Lucia and loved it!

Another couple we know went to Sandals Jamaica and loved it.
(Can't remember the exact resort)

My SIL was a travel agent for 15 years and never got a complaint on a sandals resort.

We booked Sandals Grande St Lucia.

This is really good to know!!! My original plan is to spend 4 days in Aruba and 4 days in Curacao. My only concern with Curacao is that I was told the water there isn't the best for watersports because it's rocky. (And I was told you can do almost everything in Aruba in about 3-4 days anyway.)
