Repost From HM Thread: Riviera Maya Brides...
Are any of you concerned about the Hurricane damage? FH and I just found the perfect spot, but we're hesitant on booking b/c we're afraid the surrounding areas will not be 'back to normal' by end of June 06.The resort itself should be fine, but we really were interested in doing tours outside of the resort as well. Anyone else having 2nd thoughts or canceling all together?

We had our honeymoon booked and were supposed to go in 3 weeks but were told it's going to take them 6 months to build it back up again. We had to cancel our honeymoon and decided to book a honeymoon to St. Lucia.I see your getting married in June, I am sure you'll be fine.

We're booked for the Maya Riviera - end of April, we're not worried about the damages, as long as the resort itself is up and running.

We are scheduled to stay at the El Dorado Royale next month, but due to the hurricane damage, the hotel isn't going to re-open until a week beforehand....and the suite that we booked will not re-open with the rest of the hotel
So, now we're back at square one.
You shouldn't have any worries mid 2006.

My sister was vacationing at that hotel when the hurricane hit. SHe said it was the most beautiful hotel she'd even seen. Such a shame about all the damage.

O 5'er here, we were supposed to go to Cancun (in December due to my job) but switched to Aruba. I heard that the Riviera Maya didn't get hit as hard as Cancun, so if its not Cancun itself, you should be fine. In the meantime, when the resorts reopen you can go to tripadvisor.com and look at photos of the resorts that real people take to assess the damage for yourself...Welcome New Vendors
