A question: Is half past five in the evening?
or in the afternoon?

This might not be 'right' but I usually think of anything past 4 o'clock as being in the evening. So, I think 'half past five o'clock in the evening' would definitely work

the only time i've seen 5:30 written in an invitation in any of the billion catalogues i have (ONCE) it just said half past five...no afternoon or evening, so mayb that's what i'll put
