Veil Help (With Pics All Uploaded)

Ok, girls, need your opinions on this one.

I recently purchased my veil and I love the shape, length and everything.

The only thing is that I also love the idea of having a veil with lace trim. BUT...my dress is without any lace.

So, on a whim, I contacted the woman who made my first veil, sent her all my pics of my dress, etc. and asked her what she thought.

This morning, I got an email from her and she found a lace sample that matches up with my bodice. The price of the veil would be pretty competetive...so it's not a money thing. But, I don't want to waste more money on another veil if I don't think it's gonna work.

Here are the pics:

1. The Veil Shape (same as my first veil)

2. The beading on the waist of my dress (looks gold, but will not be)

3. The lace sample that she sent today

4. The inspiration that made me want lace on the bottom. This is what it would look like, only not cathedral. (Kudos to whomever's pic this is)

Re: Veil Help (With Pics All Uploaded)

leese, I think it would be a beautiful addition to your veil! I don't think it would be too much & it would match the bodice to a 't'!!!

I like the looks of it on the trim like the last picture!!!

Thanks.... That's kind of what I thought when I saw it... It kinda looks like the other thing.

I'm not sure if I'd be sending her back my veil for it to be added OR if she would make a new one.

I almost would rather get a new one and try to sell the old one just in case I end up not loving it.

she said that there is some silver thread in the stitching, then some pearls and sequins throughout.

i need to find out how big it is too.

do you think that will be ok?

I agree, I think you should get a piece of the lace first just to make sure it's not too big and it really does match perfectly.

I love the idea of the lace though, very beautiful and elegant. Great touch!!!!

It's actually a drop veil with lace edge.

A mantilla traditionally doesn't go over your face as a blusher.

It was my dad's and future husband's request for me to have a blusher... how could I say no?

The drop veil is great because it looks wonderful coming down, but is attached to a comb with clear adhesive. When it's pulled back, it looks similar to a two tier, but without any poof.

Re: Veil Help (With Pics All Uploaded)

Lisa, I love your veil. With the lace added, it would be a special touch that would definitely complete your look!

Quick question.. would you mind FM'ing me about your original veil (where you got it, how much.. etc.) I would greatly appreciate it! It's just what I'm looking for. NO poof!

Re: Veil Help (With Pics All Uploaded)

I think the lace is a prefect match to the bodice of the dress, and if you love it, go for it. My only concern (and I have the same concern with my own dress) is that if all the edges of the veil are lace, how much will that detract from the back of the dress as you are walking down the aisle? As in, where does the veil end on your back, and will people's eyes be drawn to the end of the veil instead of admiring your dress.

I had a salesperson in a salon point this out. My mother hates tulle veils because the edges are unfinished, but when they put a veil on my head with finished edges it completely took away from the detail on the back of the dress by creating a line across my back.

Just something to consider.

Re: Veil Help (With Pics All Uploaded)

I love the shape of your veil!!!
The lace looks very beautiful and it gives it that little bit extra!
The only thing I would suggest is that you get a whole new one made, just in case you don't love it 100% when you try it on and match it up with your dress. JMO.
If you're anything neurotic like myself, I would make myself sick thinking if I did the right thing by adding to the veil.
Good Luck!
