okay girls... who can help me? (It's a tough one)
Okay so i need a good father daughter song. BUT it's not as easy as you think. See, in short, my father and i haven't spoken since i was 14 and he's not in my life.(Keep in mind it's hard to explain in a shortened, less complicated version) Anyway, I worked at Johns Pancake House from the time i was 13 until i was 24 and my boss kind of took on the father figure role. When i was 18, i moved into his house with his wife and children for personal reasons, including to take care of their children 2 days a week when i wasn't working. Anyways... i lived their for almost 5 years and they really became my family. We always tell people that he's my adoptive dad and his daughter is my sister. She's in my wedding party and he's walking me down the isle.
So now that i've explained that... what kind of father daughter song could i pick for us? In more ways than one, he saved me and he gave me something i needed more than i knew i did... a dad. I just can't seem to find the perfect song. Any ideas????
(Please don't suggest Hero or Wind beneath my wings. I want something sweet and i prefer the oldies, but i'm up to suggestions.)
TIA!!! I know this is a hard one.

Do you remember that Madonna song. . I'll remember? Here are the lyrics:I'll remember
© Madonna
Mmmm, mmmm
Say good-bye to not knowing when
The truth in my whole life began
Say good-bye to not knowing how to cry
You taught me that
Chorus (first time substitute 'strength' for 'love' and 'saved' for 'changed'):
And I'll remember the love that you gave me
Now that I'm standing on my own
I'll remember the way that you changed me
I'll remember
Inside I was a child
That could not mend a broken wing
Outside I looked for a way
To teach my heart to sing
(chorus)
I learned to let go of the illusion that we can possess
I learned to let go, I travel in stillness
And I'll remember happiness
I'll remember [I'll remember]
Mmmmm... [I'll remember]
Mmmmm...
(chorus)
[I'll remember]
No I've never been afraid to cry
Now I finally have a reason why
I'll remember [I'll remember]
(repeat 3 times, substituting 'And' for 'Now' the second and third times)
It sounds like what you went through. . .
Its such a nice story- that's great that you found the love and support you needed...

How about 'In my life'? It's a Beatles song that almost always makes me cry and seems like it might be appropriate for this.

Because you Loved Me - Celine DionI love the words!!!
For all those times you stood by me
For all the truth that you made me see
For all the joy you brought to my life
For all the wrong that you made right
For every dream you made come true
For all the love I found in you
I'll be forever thankful baby
You're the one who held me up
Never let me fall
You're the one who saw me through through it all
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me
You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hand I could touch the sky
I lost my faith, you gave it back to me
You said no star was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your love I had it all
I'm grateful for each day you gave me
Maybe I don't know that much
But I know this much is true
I was blessed because I was loved by you
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me
You were always there for me
The tender wind that carried me
A light in the dark shining your love into my life
You've been my inspiration
Through the lies you were the truth
My world is a better place because of you
You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'coz you believed
I'm everything I am
Because you loved me

Ray Charles- What would I do without you.Frank Sinatra- Dancing cheek to cheek.
or Memories are made of this.
Van Morrison- These are the days.
Nat King Cole- Unforgettable.
I don't have the words to theses songs, I just have theme saved in a music file. I just went through all the songs on there to see if I could find any that would be good in your situation.
I love these songs!! Try to download them.

The song Daughter. I have an old teacher I'm dancing with to this song on my wedding. He was more than a father to me than the seed donor I was born into.
