who is taking dance lessons?
If so, which studio are you using, and how much is a lesson? how many are you taking? We don't want to make fools of ourselves, but I also don't have lots of discretionary income right now for lessons.... any place have a good deal?
thanks!!

Re: who is taking dance lessons?
Hey, I want to take dance lessons too. the town of hempstead offers them at a really cheap price..... if a bunch of us call, they may be able to start something for engaged couples.

Check your local high school. Many of them have dance lessons for a low price.

Re: who is taking dance lessons?
Be careful if you are planning on taking the lessons through the Town of Hempstead... I did this over the summer, cause it is a great price... we signed up for the beginner swing class, for $50/couple for 5 sessions....well we ended up having only 2 sessions, and they were not held where they were supposed to be... Also they kept changing the dates - it was supposed to have been 1/week starting in july going through the first week of august. It didn't start until mid july, and i said, ended up only having 2 sessions... not that we've seen a refund or anything.
It really annoyed me, cause you want to make plans in the summer, people go on vaca and what not, (and FI is from the bronx, so he couldnt just drop everything to make up a lesson) and they didnt' seem to take any of that into consideration when they just canceled a class.
Sorry - this ended up being quite a vent, hehe

Re: who is taking dance lessons?
a little sidebar about Adult Ed.... my mom is a muralist and teaches sometimes at our town's adult ed and the scheduling is crazy... the school tells them 'pick a night' and she pick 'tuesdays' and then at the last minute they change it because of availability of the room or something and expect her to change her schedule, too, to accommodate... i think in cases like that it should just be a refund... you commit many months in advance for 1 night a week and then it inconveniences everyone (teacher included) to change it....lol, sorry, totally not dance-related, but the Adult Ed reminded me of this....
That being said though, I just got quotes from people for $95/hr!! Soooo adult ed is looking pretty good! hehe

Re: who is taking dance lessons?
We wanted to do this but money is tighter than we thought...we have a friend who may be able to teach us but at this rate I want Jan and Feb to be as stress free as possible! I think we'll have to go with the 'clutch and sway' and then have the BP join us about half way through and then everyone else...then have a second slow song that we all dance to...then my dance w/dad...his w/mom....whew!!Let me know if any good deals some along tho!!

Re: who is taking dance lessons?
I got a GC for Arthur Murray and we did the intro classes (4 total) To be 'good' for ou wedding...good enough not to look like you jut stepped outside of a dance studio...it would cost $3,200...and it is a big commitment! We certainly didn't do it..but enjoyed it! Mayve after the wedding when we have more money we might find somehting else to do together.

I think my fh got me a gift certificate for dance lessons with John. Glad to hear he was great! I got the gift in October and I definitely need to set up an appointment soon.
