Advice from the 05 board
Since its been relatively slow on this board, I was hoping we could all work on something together. As our year is about to end, let us send it off with wonderful advice for the brides to be, courtesy of the 05 girls.Dont ever lose sight of why your getting married. Photos and flowers and favors are all really nice. But the most important moment of the day is that you'll be marrying the man you love.
Dont underestimate LIWeddings. If you ever need advice, help or just support.....know that your fellow LIW girls will be there for you. If your stressed that you wont be able to do a DIY project, ask for help. Everyone is more than willing.
As for the drama, dont let it get to you. We are all entitled to our opinions and with that said, we must respect each other's opinions, no matter how much you disagree with it.
Lastly, please appreciate LIWeddings for what it's set out to do. The creators of this website (Ron and Liz) are wonderful people and although you may not understand their decisions, stand by them. They have the best intentions. Also dont be afraid to ask them for help. They are always more than willing. They are two extraordinary people and consider yourself lucky if you ever get the chance to meet them.
Best of luck and may your wedding far exceed your expectations!!!

Re: Advice from the 05 board
I may longer be an 05er officially but I will always be one in my heart. I second Diva's feelings regarding LIW, many of the women I have had the pleasure to get to know because of this forum, have a very special place in my heart. Everyone is always full of encouragement, honest opinions (even when we disagree) and are some of the most creative people I know. But the biggest plus of all, is everyone on here understands 'Bride Brain' andgets that there is a difference between bashful pink and blushing pink..they don't roll their eyes everytime we fall in love with a different dress, or when we fawn over anything lovey dovey or wedding related but mostly they understand, the joy, the pain, the sheer insanity that takes place while planning a wedding.
And who said women can't get along???? lol
Hugs

Re: Advice from the 05 board
MAKE SURE you take the time to REALLY THINK about who your bridesmaids will be. DON'T pick people just because you feel obligated to. Pick people who you know will be there for you and will not be jealous or resentful of your happiness.TRUST YOUR GUT when something or someone doesn't FEEL right. Whether it's a vendor or your choice of programs/invites.....you might end up second-guessing yourself to death. Save yourself the anguish from the beginning.....

Re: Advice from the 05 board
My advice would be:1. Get everything in writing. That way, there's no confusion later on regarding what's included.
2. Relax and enjoy the day. It will go by so quickly. Have lots of fun, b/c a
and
that have fun make the wedding fun. Conversely, it could be the most expensive wedding in the world, but if the bride and groom aren't happy, no one else will be.

I second this. It is very important to not get trapped into asking people. Also, you don't have to ask them the second you get engaed.
I have some advice, but will wait until after I get married and make a full post.

Re: Advice from the 05 board
ALSO: don't forget to re-apply lipstick and/or powder.....make sure you ask one of your BM's to remind you to do it in case you forget.Do your best to say hello to all your guests, but don't let that get in the way of having a good time. I didn't get to spend much time with any single guest, and I don't think I even made it to every single table...every time I went to a table, half the people were at the bar or in the bathroom or on the dance floor....you do your best to say hello, but don't forget to get out on the dance floor and ENJOY YOURSELF! I felt guilty for not spending quality time with each guest, but my hubby remided me that I am only human and people understand.....
TRY and eat a little and drink a little...it will loosen you up and you WILL feel better....I didn't drink AT ALL and wished I had just a little bit more....I was kinda nervous and I think it would have relaxed me a bit more....

Re: Advice from the 05 board
Make sure you get everything in writing, especially with your hall. Trust me i learned that the hard way. Don't settle. If you like a vendor's work, book them. Don't think you will find the same elsewhere for less money. Remember you get what you pay for.

Re: Advice from the 05 board
My advice to the future brides is definately make a list of must have pictures, I am very glad we did this, put all your heart into thte day even if its not going your way..Smile , you get a certian glow on your wedding day..
If you have a problem do not let it stress you out, you have a bridal party for that..
Enjoy the day, It goes quick but such an amazing rush of love, and all kinds of emotions.. and enjoy each other!!!

Re: Advice from the 05 board
My daughter was married in July and I can't thank everyone enough for making her day such a special one. From the vendors that everyone helped with and the great ideas,OOT gift bags and slipper baskets it just made our wedding so special thanks to all of you. When I talk to someone recently engaged I always recommend LIW.
Thank you all!
