QUESTION Repost from 06 board
hey ladies i need your opinions...a hall i really liked had some options that i need to decide on, they have premium bar and cocktail hour is 10 hour d'eurves 5 chafing dishes and 4 carving tables...now heres the question: in order to be able to afford it FH and i need to subtract and add somethings or keep it what it is, we can either leave the premium bar and CH as is and have it a 5 hour affair no viennese or we can make the bar standard (still open bar of course) and make the cocktail hour go to 10 hour d'eurves,3 chafing dishes, and 2 carving table but then can add an hour with viennese... so which do you think is better? theres a poll to vote and thanks for all your help!!

Re: QUESTION Repost from 06 board
I would say skip the Viennese hour. Premium Liquor would be important to me. My guests are drinkers and I think that would be more of a difference. I guess it would depend more on your guests.

Re: QUESTION Repost from 06 board
I was debating thos too, but the thing I really care about is people being able to let loose on the dance floor and have fun. I've been to a ton of things that have the vienese hour and then there's been hardly enough time to get my last dancing on. So I figured by the end of the party, people are going to be so stuffed anyway, that they probably won't get the full options of what the vienese hour has to offer. Plus, I know I'm having a lot of OOT and out of country guests, where at events they don't even have the huge cocktail hour like we have here, so I want them to be very impressed with that and then say, 'what, that wasn't dinner...'

Re: QUESTION Repost from 06 board
I know the vienessehour is nice but my personal take is that people will be so stuffed by that time that they may waste the food. Howvever drinks people wil not waste.

Re: QUESTION Repost from 06 board
I went to a party with the vienese hour (it was a Bar Mitzvah, but whatever), and honestly, people ate from it, but they barely even made a dent in it. At that point the party was winding down anyway, so people were just dancing and enjoying themselves before they went home. And we're a family that likes to eat.
Nobody would have missed it if there had just been cake. Also, a lot of halls offer deserts to go with the cake, like a small tray of pastries, etc on each table. Perhaps do that instead of a full viennese.

I think V-hours are over rated, IMO
