Hair Trial Question
For those that already had a hair trial - did you start with wet hair or dry hair? I'm asking because when I had my hair done for my sister's wedding the stylist said to make sure hair was completely dry with no product (gel, mousse) in it, and my mother said she did that only because she wasn't a good stylist and only knew how to use a curling iron.I have a trial set up, but I think the cost is a little high. My mother insists it will start with a full wash and blow dry, but since I have scheduled the trial on a day when I have a party to go to, I want to shower and dry my hair before I go for the trial, and my hair can't take the blow dryer two days in a row, let alone twice in one day.
Any thoughts or input would be helpful. As always, thanks in advance girls!

Re: Hair Trial Question
I haven't had a hair trial yet, but I have had my hair done for other weddings I have been in and they always want your hair completely dry. When I went to get my hair done for my friend's wedding a couple of months ago, my hair was a little wet and the stylist blew out my hair. It has to be dry!
HTH!!

Re: Hair Trial Question
I have had 3 trials to date and they have all been with dry hair. If anything they ask that you do not wash your hair the day of because sometimes newly washed hair is too soft to work with.

Re: Hair Trial Question
I have always heard that updos are better on day-old hair, because newly washed hair is fly-away. I haven't had any trials yet, but i assume they will be on dry hair. All other updos I have had have been on dry hair.

Re: Hair Trial Question
Actually, I've been told that not only should your hair be dry, it should not be washed. I had my hair trial earlier this month and my hair stylist confirmed it. She said I should wash my hair the afternoon before the wedding, this way it's easier to manage and curl and you'll get longer hold.

Re: Hair Trial Question
I agree- always have your hair dry. My hair gets very greasy if I don't wash every day so someone suggested to me that I wash the night before with a shampoo only or just bar soap and that's all (I usually use a 2-in-one b/c I need conditioner) so my hair has some 'stick' to it and the style won't fall apart or look greasy. No wash and dry for updo's! Call your stylist and talk with them for advice about your party and options for washing/drying for the trial.
ETA: I can't tell you how many things my mom has been wrong about in all this planning-some of it is the era she grew up in and some of it is just lack of knowledge!

Re: Hair Trial Question
OMG.. That is something my mother would say!!
I agree with all of the other posters... You definately need dry hair & if possible... Not washing it the day of is best. I've heard this a gazillion times...going as far back as my Sweet 16. Somtimes moms really dont know best.

Re: Hair Trial Question
I've had 2 trials, one at home and one in a salon. My hair was completey dry for both of them and neither one of them washed it. These ladies are right, tell your mom she doesn't know what she's talking about!

Re: Hair Trial Question
I was told dirty hair stays up better and longer than clean hair. I can't imagine they will wash your hair the day of the wedding. When I got my hair done for my brother's wedding in March they told me to wash my hair at least 24 hours in advance.Welcome New Vendors
