My Nov. 12th Wedding Review (Swan Club, Double Diamond, Duet, & more)
RK Bridal - http://www.rkbridal.com – A+ I went to RK Bridal because I wanted a no frills place to buy my wedding dress. In addition, I did not want to spend a lot of money. I went to RK once and found my dress right away. The staff was great, my dress came in early and the seamstresses were very attentive and good.
Always a Bridesmaid – http://www.alwaysabridesmaidboutique.com - B The sales staff at Always a Bridesmaid is great. They are very helpful and accommodating, but they need to replace their seamstress. My mom and MOH had to work on their own dresses b/c the Always seamstress didn’t alter their dresses right and didn’t know how to properly hem the dress. In addition, the seamstress did an awful job and altering the top of one of my bridesmaid dresses. She was self conscious all day. If you do decide to buy a dress their, get it altered by someone else.
Barrons in Tri County – A+ I purchased my tiara and veil at Barrons and they were both beautiful and inexpensive. My veil was a cathedral length with embroidery that went along the edges. Barrons offered the cheapest price on an embroidered cathedral length veil and it was stunning.
Duet – http://www.duetwedding.com - A Duet is great. They showed up at my house on time. They seemed very artistic with all their shots and they were very patient with our big family pictures. They were everywhere, but not in the way at all. Once I receive our proofs, I will update the review.
Double Diamond Limo – http://www.limos4u.net - A I have to say after reading a recent review I was a little worried. But, it was for no reason. They showed up on time, were extremely helpful and knew where they were going. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone.
Elaine DeLuca – http://www.exquisiteeventsnewyork.com - A+ I knew I wanted a Day of Coordinator from the beginning. I didn’t want to bother a family member or friend with paying and tipping vendors and I didn’t want to do that myself on my wedding day. In addition, DH and I wanted to make sure that everything we were planning actually happened. That’s exactly what she did. We met a few times before the wedding. She developed a schedule and kept track of everything we were planning. She handled some minor problems without getting us unnecessarily involved. If you are thinking of a DOC, definitely look into Elaine.
Jill Harth (Make-up) – http://www.jillharth.com - A++ Jill was by far my favorite vendor (other than the Swan Club). She did a great job with all the girls. In total, she and her assistant worked on 9 girls and the flowergirl. She made everyone look beautiful. She arrived at the house on time, set-up and just went through all the girls. She would get the girls in the chair prep and finish them later. I was the only one who got airbrushed and I didn’t even feel that I had make-up on. Mind you, I am not a make-up person at all. I never wear the stuff. At the end of the night, a few of my bridesmaids and relatives said how good my make-up still looked. She gave everyone who had their make-up done a free lipstick, which was a nice touch. If you are looking for a good make-up person, definitely look into Jill.
Documents and Designs – http://www.documentsanddesigns.com - A+ Since DH and I went with a Fall themed wedding, we wanted to coordinate our wedding programs, place cards and menus. Documents and Designs provided that for us. They have a bunch of options for you to choose from. We went for the swirley leaf option. Everything came out very nice. The paper quality was nice and durable, not cheap at all. It was a little thicker than resume paper. The company is very attentive and responds to all inquiries quickly. It never took them more than a day to respond to an e-mail. They provide you proofs within two business days and they are very patient. I kept revising my ceremony program and they just kept resending me new proofs. There is a flat rate for design and proofing, so it didn’t really matter how many times I revised the items, there was just one fee.
Starlight Express - http://www.starlightexpressdjs.com – A The only reason why they are not getting an A+ is because they forgot to give away the table centerpieces in the beginning of the reception. DH and I put stickers on the back of one menu card on each table. We had discussed this with the DJ prior to the reception, but he forgot. So, rather than making a general announcement at the beginning of the reception, we wound up playing a game toward the end. Other than that, Starlight Express did a great job. There were people on the dance floor all night. Everyone really responded to the music and I had a few people ask me for their contact information b/c they are looking for a DJ for their next event. Starlight played all the songs on our must play list. If you are looking for DJs to keep the party going and get people on the dance floor, look into Starlight Express.
After Hours – http://www.afterhours.com - B This is an average score. We used two After Hours, one in the Staten Island Mall and the other in Roosevelt Field. The Staten Island Mall AH was great, they were helpful, attentive and prompt with whatever changes we needed. On the other hand, the Roosevelt Field store was the complete opposite. They insisted that our order was different, without even checking the order form, provided one groomsmen with a shirt that was two sizes too small and gave the ring bearer the wrong vest and tie color. It wasn’t so much the mistakes that were made, but the rudeness and stubbornness that we received from the employees at the Roosevelt Field store that was very, very annoying.
The Swan Club - http://www.swanclub.com – A++ The Swan Club exceeded our expectations. It was great and our Maitre D Paul was so attentive and accommodating. We have received so many compliments about the cocktail hour and the food from many of our guests. In particular, we opted for a soup choice of minestrone or seafood bisque for an appetizer rather than pasta. This was a huge hit. Everyone loved the seafood bisque and said how it was excellent (this includes DH). Our cake was great. It was decorated nicely and tasted good. But, I really can’t say enough good things about Paul and the Swan Club, they did a great job.
Queens Garden Florist - http://www.queensgardenflorist.com – A- I am giving them an A- because there were a few minor things that didn’t go quite as planned. However, overall they blew me away with the center pieces and bouquets. They were so rich with fall colors and beautiful. My bouquet was a beautiful bunch of mango colored calla lilies and my bridesmaids had a bunch of red roses, mango calla lilies, and other beautiful orange and red colors. The center pieces were just as beautiful. We have received so many compliments on their flowers. http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=8KatG7hw4ft

did you get your cake from an outside bakery, or was it from SC? i'm sure you've heard all the rumors about their cakes, so i was hoping you could settle my fears
