I hate the NYC Office of the City Clerk! Where is y marriage cert?!?!

It is SO frustrating dealing with them! My certificate is still not here, and there is only an automated message when I call their #. Does anyone have a # with PEOPLE who answer it?

I'm sorry about that. Which boro? My DH was able to get through to someone from Brooklyn (not that they were helpful!).

we got our certificate in the mail after about 3 weeks or so, so maybe you will get it soon

We are having a problem with witness addresses, and they cannot help us, they said only the officiant can correct the mistake!

Call the number with the last number changed to a number up and down- this worked for me!

Christine, THANK YOU!!!!! I changed one digit at the end and was able to speak to someone. My paperwork hadn't left the office for processing, but she is sending it out tomorrow.

I learned this little trick years ago when I worked for the Bronx DA and needed to get important people on the phone! I am so glad it still works!

I am having the same problem!!!!!

SO ANNOYING!!!

On the one hand, today is a HAPPY DAY, cuz I am officially Mrs. L____!!!! I went to social security and they accepted my marriage certificate from the Church to change my name!!!

Now i have to do DMV, but I need the stupid city form to get it!!! If it EVER getss here... I'm going to try your idea and change the last number!!!

I just spoke to DH, who just called the rabbi and the clerk. The clerk this time wouldn't discuss stuff over the phone b/c of 'confidentialtiy' but said that we may have to have the witnesses come in in person. However, my witness/MOH lives in Massachusetts!!!! I'm SO upset, and I'm pretty upset about the Rabbi, when he got the letter, he did NOTHING about it. If I got a letter regaring a paying client, regarding something that I had potentially schrewed up, I would investigate, not just leave it. GRRRR!

They are so irresponsible over there.....I JUST got my certificate a few days ago (I was married Oct 15!!)...and I had to call them to see where it was!! They apparently were holding it b/c they couldn't read the rabbi's handwriting, but yet never bothered to CALL ME about it!!!!!!!!!!

Call (212) 669-2208 and ask for Inez. She is the one that does the certificates.

unfortunately, no way to do that. I live in Florida with DH now! Although, we are back and forth a lot. We'll be up in NY in 2 weeks and if I don't hear by then, I may just pay them a visit!

I have written this on other posts. But it took me 8 whole weeks before I got my certificate in the mail. My DH went to the city clerk in the Bronx to inquire around week 6 and he was told that they are very behind and the process can take anywhere between 8 to 9 even 10 weeks before you receive your certificate. We got ours on our 2 month anniversary. So believe me, I understand your pain and concern. But it will come soon.
