Re: NWR: Atkins

I been on Atkins, many, many times, and I have to say that it works. After the first few days your cravings stop, but you may experience headaches and feel a little weird, but you do lose, but you have to really follow it, which for me sometimes was a problem.

Re: NWR: Atkins

Discuss it with your Doctor, because it can be harmful to your health if not followed properly, or if you have certain health issues.

Re: NWR: Atkins

I would try something else

I lost 20lbs on it a few years ago- but it's impossible to manintain

how realistic is it that you are NEVER going to eat carbs again

it's not really healthy either

I would try weight watchers or another type of diet that is easier to maintain

Re: NWR: Atkins

I would do Weight Watchers before Atkins. It is ratd as one of the best diets out there. Unbalanced diets increase chances of neurological problems (as well as cholesterol problems and other health problems). Although people do lose weight from Atkins, it really isn't that healthy. You can lose the same weight via WW and know you are having a balanced diet that will allow you to eat what you want in portions. I second that you should consult w/ your doctor first before trying any diet.

Re: NWR: Atkins

Atkins really no healthy, but Weight Watcher was really helpful to me I lost 11 ponds nor for over 1 year and i kept it off so far. Weight Watcher really teaches you how to eat it does not eliminate carbs all together but it teaches you about portion control

Re: NWR: Atkins

I agree that WW is healthier. It is also easier to maintain. I have never tried Atkins, but my sister has done both and was much more successful with WW.

Re: NWR: Atkins

I did Atkins and I loved it. But I know that most people do the South beach because it allows you to have more food and healthy carbs

Re: NWR: Atkins

All of that protein puts a strain on your kidneys; you NEED fiber in your diet; the weight loss is so difficult to maintain. Please consider a diet like weight watchers (the only one that has been reported to actually work) and exercise.

Good luck!

Re: NWR: Atkins

I've tried it and actually think low carb is better than no carb. Atkins is too hard to maintain, but low carb is more manageable.

Re: NWR: Atkins

I'm a big fan of weight watchers..try that first, is more realistic and you don't cut any single food group out!

Re: NWR: Atkins

The day I tried Adkins was the worst day of my life, besides the time I had the flu.

I apologize to those that love Adkins, but it was like torture.

Re: NWR: Atkins

I'd have to say South Beach is the way to go. The first two weeks are tough, but you lose a lot of weight in that time. And you'll be amazed at how good you feel! I was a skeptic until I read the book, and it really makes sense.

Re: NWR: Atkins

I have been doing Atkins for 7 years and have had great success with it - not to mention that I have had no health issues as a result of this diet. It may not be for everyone but I just wanted to clear up that Atkins is not a NO CARB diet - it is a low carb diet and it does call for fiber. I have always maintained a good balance and do have vegetables. As you get to your goal you slowly introduce larger amounts of carbs back into your diet. The goal is to look for the balance that allows you to up your intake while maintaining your weight loss. Like I said, it's not for everyone but I wanted to clear up some of the inaccuracies.
