This one is interesting - its called jumping the broom - not sure the whole story, but from reading Alice Walker novels, its an old African American tradition - I believe slaves getting married would do this for good luck... If anyone knows the story please do share, as I do not want to be ignorant!I was telling some friends about this one at dinner the other night, and they thought I said 'jumping the groom' instead, and they started laughing at the image of that as a cake topper... LOL

I think the story is that they would use the jumping the broom as a way of officiating the marriage as they could not hold ceremonies in churches or anywhere else.Welcome New Vendors
