Gown Shopping - Can't get motivated!

My wedding is at the end of Sept'06 and I can't get motivated to go gown shopping...it's tough finding the time to go and I wish I were a few pounds thinner.

Any suggestions on how to get started? What do I need to know when I'm gown shopping? Any tips or tricks? Same questions for bridesmaid dress shopping... Am I okay on time for this stuff?

I've been to one place so far, Charmet in Bayside, and it wasn't a bad experience - small selection so I didn't find 'THE' dress, but I'm glad I at least went. I may go back there to order my gown once I find the one I want...free alterations!

It would help you a lot to have some kind of idea about what you want. Color, beadwork, no beadwork, etc. this way, you have a starting point and know what to tell the salespeople so they can bring you gowns that you will like.

Thanks for the input. I've got pictures of some dresses I found online that I like...good to know that is helpful when I go to the bridal salons.

Hi Date twin!!!!!!! Charmet is very small w/ not much selection so don't feel discouraged. I found my dress like 2 weeks ago, so you still have plenty of time. First I went to david's bridal just to try on different styles. I had no idea what I wanted. from that, I realized I wanted strapless and heavy beading :o) The second place I went to was Lillettes in Baldwin and I found my dress!!!! Good Luck with your search


p.s. I didn't start looking for BM dresses yet, but I think I'm either going to go to david's bridal or flowerama in Elmont for that.

Thanks! It's so nice to find someone with the same date to compare notes on this with! I feel much better now.

I'll just have to make appts and get out there and do it I guess...
