My Oct. 8th Wedding Review! Duet, Foxhollow, Tommy's Tunes....
Hello All, First I would like to say I am so happy for finding LI Weddings. I would have been lost without it. Everyone on here really had great ideas and opinions. You all completely helped me out when I needed it.I have to say that ALL of my vendors completely exceeded my expectations. I had a lot of minor issues with many vendors before I made my final choices. I am so happy that I had these great vendors who not only LISTENED to my ideas, they ran with them and made my wedding day the best day of my life!
**A few tips for any soon to be brides out there: 1. If you are trying to stay within budget and have the time, try to DIY! It really adds a special touch. I made my own hotel cards, church maps, custom cd's (which were a HUGE success!), favor tags, cake topper, church programs, kissing balls, and hair pins for my bridesmaids/flower girls. 2. STICK TO YOUR GUNS! If you are not happy with something speak up and never settle. You can always find someone who will work with you to accomplish your goals. 3. EBAY & THE INTERNET! I bought all of my bridal party, church readers, parents gifts and tons of supplies online. It saved me so much time and $$$!
So here it goes....
INVITES: Classic Favors & Invitations, Selden NY
Stephanie was such a help! We were completely undecided on what we wanted and she let us come in on 3 separate occasions and weed through all of their books. I ran out of invites and had to order 150 more, they got them back to me ASAP! Classic Favors were quick, helpful, close by, and courteous! Plus they have a great shop for any other party items you may need. I got my money purse & sign in book from them too.
** I did the direction cards myself. I guess they worked, because everyone made it to the church. : )
TUXES: Gennaro's Tuxedos, Centereach NY
I know other people have had issues with them, but they were helpful, patient and the tuxes looked great.
BRIDESMAID GOWNS: Bridal Suite of Centereach, Centereach NY
The staff is EXTREMELY helpful and they beat everyone else's prices. I wish I got my gown there, but they are a bit crazed and crowded at times. They even helped me out when my dress shop wouldn't (LONG STORY!) The girls gowns came in fast, the alterations were done quick and the gowns looked amazing.
MY GOWN: Bridal Reflections of Massapequa, Massapequa NY
I loved my dress, BUT I have mixed feelings about Bridal Reflections, mainly due to one particular person who worked there. She ruined my first fitting experience. I'm actually writing letters to Bridal Reflections & the dressmaker to voice my issue. Otherwise everyone else were really great to work with. Zizi was sweet and my alterations came out beautiful. Everyone said my dress was perfect and I looked like a princess.
MY HAIR: All For You Day Spa, Holtsville NY
Melissa really came through for me, I booked her 1 wwek before my wedding. I went for a trial and got exactly what I wanted. I went for 4 trials, and it seemed everyone did what they wanted, not what I wanted. Plus 1 stylist was a no-show for my trial! I was more than happy with the results.
MY MAKEUP: A family friend
I absolutely loved my make-up plus she came to us the day of. She works in NYC at a major salon (Not sure if she wants her info up here) She came at 8:00AM and all we had to do is touch it up a bit right before the reception at 8:00PM!!! My make-up held up through the rain, my sweating and everything else. If anyone wants her info let me know and I will pass it along to her.
FAVORS: Patchogue Floral Fantasyland, Patchogue NY
I waited till last minute for them. I really could not decide on what I wanted. Do your research you can find them online for great prices. I went with patchogue floral fantasyland because they were close and quick. I also bought my bubbles, and kissing ball flowers from them.
LIMOS: Majestic Limosines, Shirley NY
Awesome! Clean limos, Sweet drivers! Perfect choice. I also used them for my bachelorette party and the driver was really great. He had to deal with a bunch of wild women and he really took care of us.
CHAIRCOVERS: Paragon Designs, Middle Village NY
Jamila at paragon was great to work with. She beat everyone's price. It was a great touch and I am happy that we spent the extra money to get them. The chairs covers were cleaned and pressed to perfection. Not a bow out of place. I have heard of others not being completely happy with them, but I found them to be perfect. Even my mother who fought me on getting them had to say that they really added that elegant touch to the room, they really brightened up the place!
DJ & WEDDING SINGER: Tommy's Tunes!!!! Selden NY
My Husband and I had our hearts set on a band, but could not find one that we loved. I am so happy that we had decided on Tommy's Tunes. WOW is all I can say! I really don't think you need to worry about who you get as a DJ or MC from Tommy's Tunes, because it seems that everyone that works there is great. From the secretary to Tommy, everyone was a pleasure to work with. I was originally supposed to have one DJ and he left right before my wedding, I then got DJ Michael and he was awesome (we never met w/him and did a perfect job) I met with Tommy & Frankie and they both were so accommodating. My dance floor was packed all night long. We also booked a wedding singer to perform during the 1st, 2nd & Main courses. He was sooo good. His voice was great and he had a great stage presence (i forgot his name, but I know it wasn't gene). Everyone was raving about him and saying that he was a great addition.
** Everyone I talk to about my wedding raved about my music!
FLORIST: WITH ALL MY HEART!!!! Port Jefferson NY
This was probably the hardest item that I had to deal with. My color scheme was not the easiest to work with, but Linnea and her staff took my ideas and transformed them into BEAUTIFUL creations! I had gone to 2 other florists and was extremely disappointed in their samples. The wouldn't even do a sample bouquet for me or even add flowers that I had wanted! I even showed pics I wanted them to match! The completely disregarded them and did the same cookie cutter arrangements that they do for everyone else. I found 'With All My Heart' and was extremely impressed with Linnea's sample book. She decorated my church, my cake, made my centerpieces, bouquets and boutonnieres for everyone. Plus they have a cute boutique and she does wedding coordinating too! Linnea definitely has a true talent with an artistic flair, PLUS she was so easy to work with. She was a very sweet person, I recommend 'With All My Heart' highly.
PHOTOGRAPHER: Duet, Huntington NY
Duet was great from start to finish. I just received my proofs and all I have to say is WOW! The guys were with us from 12-12 and were in ther efor everything! Everytime I was having a good time they were right there. One thing I noticed was that ther ewere a ton of pictures that had us kissing, I would've liked to have a few more shots of the 2 of us looking towards the camera.
THE RECEPTION: The Foxhollow, Woodbury NY
The foxhollow really came through for us. We were originally set to have our reception at another facility. Unfortunately our wedding guest list grew, and our prior hall could not fit us. We booked the foxhollow with less than 7 months to go until our date! They had an opening for a sat night in oct and we jumped on it! Frank M. was great to work with and gave us alot for the $$. The foxhollow staff was very attentive the night of, and took great care of us & our guests.
