I have to leave FH saturday (kinda long)

this saturday i am leaving FH to go back home (i am in sydney now). It wouldnt be so bad except i do not know when exactly i will see him again.

i am going home for the holidays and finally begin planning the wedding, which i am really excited to do. i am also happy to see my family and friends, which i have not seen in 9-10 months. i am also going home b/c i have to fill out paperwork for residency in australia and that has to be done outside of australia and preferrably in your home country. so on top of planning a wedding i have tons of paperwork to fill out.

now when we started looking into immigration about 4 months ago, we knew what had to be done, and i begun doing it early (example: collecting proof of your relationship, medical exams etc.). i was under the impression that i would do as much as i could here, and then send in the papers as soon as i got home to NY. well i find out today when i called immigration and asked what the average time is they said 24 weeks!!! they said sometimes more and sometimes less, but who knows with immigration stuff. also i found out that i have to get an fbi criminal check, which can take weeks as well. my heart just broke right there. there is no way that we can see each other, b/c i cannot fly here and he just started a new job and cannot get much time off; it isnt like australia is a weekend trip, the flight is like 20 hours.

i have been a total mess and i just hate saying goodbye so many times (half our relationship has been long distance). all i can hope for is that the paperwork will go thru quicker, but i just dont know what to think.

it will all work out!!

just think of it this way....if your relationship can take the strain of all this going on, and being apart, etc. it will show that you are meant to be and it will make your wedding day that much sweeter.

immigration can be a tricky thing. (i do consulting work myself) you might get lucky and not have to wait so long. but just keep in mind that it's all for a good reason.

good luck FH and i had a long distance relationship and its hard but worth it in the end

thanks girls! sometimes it just helps to vent it out and you feel better.

we were separated before for 6 months and when we had to say our goodbyes then, we didnt know if we were ever going to see each other again. so saying goodbye makes me think about that time.

I know how hard it is! My FI is in England and we have been apart now for nearly 18 months! I am moving over to England so I have to do all of my paperwork toboot, ontop of working, going to school, and planning a wedding without FI. I feel your pain.

I know how hard it is! My FI is in England and we have been apart now for nearly 18 months! I am moving over to England so I have to do all of my paperwork toboot, ontop of working, going to school, and planning a wedding without FI. I feel your pain.
