Invite Vent! (repost from BHB) UPDATE!!!!
I am so frustrated!! I’m not sure if I am being completely unreasonable or over sensitive on this… so here goes:I ordered invitations online from a reputable catalog/web site company and few days later they came in the mail. Unfortunately they came with this weird bend-like mark along the left side and the informal cards were also printed in the wrong font.
So I call the company. The girl on the phone informs me that this mark is called a gripper mark and it is where the printer holds onto the paper and that all invitations have this. So I ask why didn’t my sample invitation have this? I am told because the sample was not printed and was blank. Then how come not one printed sample that I have received had this mark. No answer. So she tells me that she will re-send the informal cards in the correct font and that I should send 10 of my invitations back to them and they will see what they can do.
I receive the new informal cards in the correct font, and guess what… there is no gripper mark! However, the writing on the informal cards is completely off center! URGH
So I send 10 copies of everything back to the company and wait for a response. I get a message on my machine to call this girl back. I call. She is not there because her day ends early. No one else can help me. I call back the next day during this girl’s hours. She can’t come to the phone but I am told someone will call me back. Hours later no return phone call. I call again, I am promised another phone call. Nada.
So today, I get home from work and I call, and this girl actually answers the phone! So I ask her what is going on with my order. She tells me that she spoke to her manager and that I can either keep the invitations at half price or return them for a full refund. I asked her why couldn’t they just be reprinted correctly, and she tells me that there is no guarantee that they will come out without a gripper mark on them!! I have NEVER seen a “gripper mark” on anyone’s invitation before!! Why is this such an issue??? So then I ask her how much would it be for me to keep just the envelopes (my thought was that I would just make the invites myself) She tells me that just the envelopes would be more than $100!! And that those would not be given to me at half price… URGH again!! So then I said, fine, I will just return everything for a full refund, and I ask her if I will be refunded the shipping it costs for me to mail everything back… and I am told no way and that I am lucky that they refund me anything because usually there is no refunds on printed materials!
Now I am waiting for a manager to call me back to deal with this. I have a huge problem paying for something to be done that is not done correctly. I am so friggen frustrated by this! Am I being unreasonable in either wanted the job done correctly or wanting ALL of my money back??
UPDATE!
So I never received a phonecall from the manger, but i did get an email from a customer service person telling me that they are going to re-print my invites... so i w/b telling them that if they arent printed correctly this second time i still expect a full refund... the girl writes back and tells me ok, no problem... so i dont hear from them for about a week... so i send another email asking when i should expect these newly printed invites... the next day i get a phonecall at 10PM (they were so lucky i wasn't sleeping) telling me that she was sorry but after speaking to her manager, she isnt allowed to re-print them... this girl is actually nice to me and says that they will reimburse what it will cost me to mail the package back... so then i ask her if i could keep the envelopes at half price since they are going to get thrown out anyway (figuring i'll make my own invites)... she says sure and that she will call me back the following evening with a price... so i get a phone call from the supervisor the next day and she tells me that this girl mispoke and had no right to offer me the envelopes but they will honor it anyway and give me all 175 outer and inner envelops for $42! ... so after all this hassle and aggravation, it looks like i'll be making my own invites!
urgh!! im currently going through myfont.com to pick out the perfect font... so many choices, so hard to decide!! moral of the story: only use theamericanweddingalbum.com if you want to have gripper marks and uncentered text on your invites!

Re: Invite Vent! (repost from BHB)
No, you are absolutely right. You paid to have a correct order and it is their job to provide you with invitations that are exact to your specifications. You should receive a refund if they cannot get it right.I've never heard of a 'gripper mark' either. Sounds like some sort of BS they're trying to pull.

Can you call the better business bureau on a website? I know it sounds dumb, I'm not sure. See what happens.

No, you are not being unreasonable. I too would be totally flipping out. In fact, I am flipping out because I was planning on ordering my invites online, and the samples I got were blank. Can you please FM me and let me know what online service you ordered them from?

Re: Invite Vent! (repost from BHB)
During college i worked for a high-end wedding invitation store. We dealt with over 50 lenders. There is no way you should have to pay for any of that. That is told BullSh*t!!Also, i would never recommend to get invitation online for this exact reason. When you go to a reputable invitation store this crap would never happen. I would be sooo heated, it's like suppose to be the best time planning and stuff and then you have to deal with this.
sorry, good luck.
Girls - don't order invitations online!!!

Re: Invite Vent! (repost from BHB)
That's terrible :( Sorry you had to deal with that type of customer service. Why can't companies just admit when they have done something wrong????Our friends just got married and ordered their invites online and they were beautiful. The price was pretty good too. We're going through the same online company as well.
Good luck with your talk with the manager though. Hopefully you'll get your shippin costs back as well..............

Re: Invite Vent! (repost from BHB)
You aren't being at all unreasonable. You placed and order and payed for invites that you believed would look like the sample. The invitations you received had a mark on them and whether this company can avoid that mark or not, it is not what you ordered. They should absolutely refund all of your money.Seems to me like they're having a hard time getting this thing right. Don't back down, get your money back.
