NWR: I'M GONNA CRY!!!!
My FH just called me and said that we have to give away are cats!!!!
We had them before we moved in, he got this new job as a live-in superintendent. We found out after we moved in we were not supposed to have any pets, but we kept them anyway.
He called and said that he was pulled into the office because one of the tenants told them that we have a cat.
What are we gonna do? I love my babies!!! That's like telling me to get rid of one of my kids!!!

Re: I'M GONNA CRY!!!!
Ugh..i know what your going through. My FH's family owns our building and when I moved in I brought my dog Sasha. Even though the sign out front says no dogs. Well, my dog is litter boxed trained, doesn't need to go outside and doesn't bark. He is more like a cat. Well, a woman went through our garbage b/c we didn't recycle properly and found a box of dog treats and complained about us. That was a month ago and it has settled down, but I can't believe people have nothing better to do than complain about something that doesn't effect them at all. But seriously, how much noise do the cats make? She is being a PITA in my opinion. Are you sure no cats is the rule. I checked our lease and it said a pet was allowed if okayed by owner (FFIL), so I think we'll be okay. Check out your lease.

Re: NWR: I'M GONNA CRY!!!!
We don't have a lease because we got the apt. because he is the superintendent of both buildings. The office manager told him NO CATS!!! Funny how my cat's name is Sasha, she's so beautiful. I don't know how I'm going to give them up. I'm so heart broken right now!!!

That bites. I'm so sorry!! Growing up in Brooklyn, our complex did not allow dogs. (Probably why I prefer cats) Over the years everyone stuck to the rule, but eventually, you started seeing dogs around. And it seemed like management never really bothered to enforce it fully.I wish I could take your cats for you, but I am already committed to taking another bride's cat this weekend for the same reason!! That, and our cat gets jealous enough!!

Re: NWR: I'M GONNA CRY!!!!
Okay, lucky me, I actually have to visit a property in the Bronx tomorrow, so I will definately look into this issue when I am there and see how our property management handles these situations. I'll get back to you as soon as I get some info. Relax, don't stress it. I'm sure there are ways to get around this. We can always bump off that lady if we have too.....j/k

Re: NWR: I'M GONNA CRY!!!!
There is a rule that if you lived in the apt. without hiding the animal for a certain amout of time and the LL didn't say anything, you can keep them no matter what the lease says or what the rules are.Check the Craigslist pets forum. There are people there who know the NYC pet laws pretty well.

Re: NWR: I'M GONNA CRY!!!!
I'm so sorry! I have had at least one dog my whole life. Now I have a teacup poodle that I am in LOVE with. I could never give her away...I would have to move! After the wedding I am moving upstate with FH and we looked all over for places that allow dogs. Don't worry...I'm sure everything will work out. Either you will get to keep them or you will find someone to take care of them until you can.

Re: NWR: I'M GONNA CRY!!!!
Aida,I'm so sorry! I wouldn't be able to give up my cats. Definitely try to have a family member watch them until you can sort this out. I'm sure there's a way to work through this.
