Re: Honeymoon Info for Italy in December
Send me an FM, I'd love to help. Europe is so fascinating at that time of year. Just look at my Paris pics (I'll post a review later). It becomes even more intimate when you're not with 700,000 other tourists and you get to experience the true culture of the residents in other seasons. Hugs!

Re: Honeymoon Info for Italy in December
What area are you thinking of going to? I went to school in Italy for a few mths so I can probably provide you with some info. If your thinking of Tuscany it will be cold. It does snow in Florence and Venice is even further north. If your into snow and skiing you can go up to the Lake Como area/Italian Alps, close to the Switzerland border. It's beautiful there and you could also do a day or two in Switzerland.

I went to school in florence also. it is cold at that time. If you want beach and sun then I would go from May - Ocotober.. (maybe)
Not sure if you are looking for the beach. Italy is beatuitful. If you are looking to tour then go for it... best of luck

Re: Honeymoon Info for Italy in December
FM me for info hehe... it really depends on how cold-tolerant you are and if you don't mind adventure (in regard to December!!!) But if you stick to the southern part of Italy (like Naples and the Amalfi Coast) you'd have slightly more moderate weather, but barely. Just let me know if you want ideas 'cause I'm getting married over there!
ETA: We just got back from Paris as you know, but we didn't let cooler weather dampen our enjoyment - we just packed and wore clothing as though we were skiing. It's really what you make of it. In the summer it's unbearably hot sometimes, and many hotels don't have air conditioning. What I mean is that people will complain no matter what the season is and if I could handle Paris in December when I am from FLORIDA, then I think it can be done. Just go with your heart and you'll be happy with whereever you pick.

Re: Honeymoon Info for Italy in December
I went to Italy last winter. It was freezing.
I feel like I didn't appreciate the sights in Rome as much because I kept wanting to go indoors. Venice should have been super romantic but I was freezing on the boats.
I would never travel to Europe in the winter again. If you can, I'd try to go somewhere warmer.

Re: Honeymoon Info for Italy in December
It depends on your expectations. Most people associate a Honeymoon with laying on a beach, drinking pina coladas and, well you know.
Europe in the winter will be chilly, if you are fine with colder weather, then go for it. Rome is at the same latitude as NY, so it is cold, but since it is close to the mediteranean sea, it isn't as cold as NY.
If you like skiing, there are some great resorts in Cortina, Italy and other towns around there.
ETA: I lived in Rome two years ago and although it wasn't super cold in the winter. My landlord was very stingy with the heat, so I was freezing all the time.

Re: Honeymoon Info for Italy in December
I am leaving for Italy on Thursday. I am going to Milan (north and COLD) and I am so excited. Italy is beautiful this time of year and so much more affordable (airfare, hotels are all low season prices)
the same things to do and see are available (MINUS the tourist lines ) bring a warm coat, scarf, gloves and you'll be fine.
if you'd like it a little more temperate, go to the south. I was in Sicily for Christmas last year and it was gorgeous. low 60's during the day, and crisp enough for a jacket at night.
Please go and enjoy. don't let a little cool air stop you from seeing the "real" Italy- after the throngs of tourists have gone!!
