Broadway - In My Life - UPDATE (SAW THE SHOW)

I am seeing 'In my Life' on Broadway tomorrow. Did anybody see this yet?

EDITED:

So I saw the show. Did anyone know it is closing this Sunday? Well, with that said, you can guess how the play went. The lead actor who played JT was truly talented and hopefully I will see him in future Broadway shows. Everyone else, well....eh. But out of the approx. 20 Broadway shows I have seen, this ranked, well....20.

It was the most depressing play I have ever seen. I could understand where they were trying to go when they were trying to have a 'normal play' taking place on real life while 'God's Opera' was being performed in heaven and on earth. But it just didn't work. The gay angel was actually quite funny and you needed something to make you laugh while watching this play.

The 2 best things about the day were going to Smith and Wollensky for dinner and of course, seeing the Christmas Tree!!

Re: Broadway - In My Life

I have heard some of the most interesting reviews about this show. Most of them not favorable. I really want to see it, but I am waiting for $20 tickets. Can't wait to hear your opinion.

Re: Broadway - In My Life

It is kinda hard because there is A LOT going on in the show, but I'll try.

The story is about a guy named JT who is a singer/songwriter and just happens to have tourettes syndrome. He meets a girl named Jenny, who happens to have a bite of OCD, and they sleep together the night they meet and guess what? They fall in love.
Meanwhile, up in heaven, God is bored with his job and decides that his flamboyantly gay angel Wilson should write him an opera. This opera in Heaven is also the story of JT and Jenny. So, what is going on on Earth is being mirrored by what is going on in Heaven.

There are a few more story lines going on, but that is the main one.

And this got not-so-favorable reviews? I'm shocked!

Re: Broadway - In My Life

I'm not surprised it's a different actor, but COME ON.

Am I supposed to believe that's a coincidence?

Re: Broadway - In My Life

Yeah actually, I thought today was Tuesday, I'm seeing it Wednesday, so depending what time I get home (I'm going to see the Tree and out to Smith and Wollensky for dinner...yeah!!) I will let you know how it is.

I also heard it got some pretty bad reviews, unfortunately this was after we got the tickets. We have just seen so many of these plays, that it's getting hard to choose. Oh well, at least it's a night on the town!
