We just spoke to our jeweler and he said after the xmas rush... so we're probably going to go in Feb (4 months before)!

I don't want to wait longer than that b/c I have to get mine custom made since my finger is sooo small.

I think it depends upon whether you can have a ready made one or are doing custom and if you want your band engraved. A custom band can take some time to make and if you go to a store and they do not have the one you want in stock in your size it might need to get ordered. I think I ordered my/DH bands in February 05 they were in by April got them engraved - they needed to be sent out - so we had them by May but it took so much strength from May to August not to want to try them on all the time. Lol. So for me three months.

We did ours 6 months before the wedding. I think that is good. Otherwise, if you see a ring you like, get it! It doesn't hurt to have it sooner rather than later.

I think we are actually going to order ours in a few weeks. FSIL is a jeweler. She helped FH with my ering, and I know if we order from her we won't get scammed or ripped off. Problem is, she lives and works upstate, so we need to be there to order them. We will be up there for christmas, and after that, probably not until Easter. Easter will be about 2 months away, which I think is too close. SO we will order them the end of Dec, which is 5 months.

i'm going to look right after christmas because they still have those sales as well.

He bought mine I just have to get his to match mine.

we pretty much picked out our wedding bands. but we will most likely order them in april/may.

depending on what you want, anywhere from 6-4 months is more then enough time

we just got ours last weekend at Macys. I work there so, it came to $225. Mine is 14K white gold simple band (wanted simple, because it is easier to resize once I gain or lose) and FI's is titanium (because he is a carpenter and it is the most durable metal to have as a wedding band. I used my friends & family discount (20%) then my regular discount (20%), and it was a steal.

Not sure if we are going to get them engraved.

Anyhow, our wedding is 3/4/06 and got them in 12/05.

I ordered ours already. I had mine custom made to match my engagement ring. His was being sized, but it's ready to be picked up!

I'd say at least 6 months prior to. Only because as you get closer to the date, you'll have a lot of 'little' things to do and finalize everything with most vendors so getting the ring out of the way early is a good idea. We bought his ring last month and picking up mine this month. Can't wait.

Both of ours were custom made (even though mine is plain, the sizing was difficult). We ordered them in September, and picked them up three weeks ago.


ETA: The reason we did this so early was b/c FH wanted to. When FH says he wants to do something wedding related, I just run with it. I pretty much don't care what it is, I only care that he is interested in doing something specific.
