Plus size brides and wedding gown shopping...

Which salons carry plus size samples?

I really want to go to kleinfeld, but I remeber when my sister got her gown, all samples were a bridal 10 (really about a 6), How does that work if you're nowhere near a size 6?

They can give you a pretty good idea of what the dress will look like-you put it on and they finagle the back so you can tell

I believe the Wedding Center of Commack does. I remember trying on some gowns that were actually huge on me!!! I think some of them were 12, 14 and 16 on top of the few that were size 10.

Is that true even if you're much bigger? I don't want to go gown shopping and like, cry because I can't tell what anything looks like

Kleinfeld had a few dresses that were plus size - 18 actually.

all the samples i tried were between 10-14. none were smaller.

I tried on dresses at RK and at Bridal Reflections. They put them on me but the back wasnt closed. I was able to get a sufficient look of what it would look like if I bought it.

I heard Lilettes has a plus size section, but most of the places I went to had gowns in 16/18+. It is very hard to try on gows that were much smaller, but like I said, all the places I went to had plenty of samples in larger sizes - Bay Shore Bridal Suite, Adriennes and BR in Massapequa. I was really dreading the whole process, but wound up enjoying it. At each place, they asked me about what kind of styles I liked and happened to bring me dresses that matched that style and were pretty close to my size.
