Something like, DH and I want to thank you for your generous gift and for thinking of us on our wedding day. We had a wonderful day and wish you could have been there to celebrate with us.

We only had 1 person who was invited, couldn’t make it and sent a gift.I wrote “thank you for your generous gift… blah blah… we’re sorry that you couldn’t make it but we appreciate you thinking about us”
Something like that.

I included a line like 'it was so thoughtful of you to remember us on our special day' along with the 'thanks for the generous gift...' part.

I wrote something like 'Thank you for the generous gift, and for remembering us on our special day. We wish you could be there, we look forward to seeing you soon!'
