Jewish Brides - Ketubah Question

Are you using your Rabbi's Ketubah, or are you ordering one?

I saw a website on LIW and checked it out - www.artketubah.com and her work is so amazing! I'm in love - but they are $305.00. I think its hand painted - is that a decent price?

How far in advance do you order the ketubah?

Re: Jewish Brides - Ketubah Question

A 'custom' ketubah needs some advanced planning (6 to 3 months at least) and can cost quite a bit. I ordered mine about 8 months prior to me wedding and it came about 2 weeks before the wedding.

If you get a fill-in-the -lank one (where you write you names in the spaces) there are usually much less.

I would say a nice fill in the blank one runs between $150 and $400.

Where are a custom (entire document hand written with your names, and custom art) can run over $500.

Re: Jewish Brides - Ketubah Question

what is a Ketubah? I'm not Jewish, but always wanted to know what it is? Also, what is the word for the canopy that is over you during the cermony?

The canopy is a chuppah. And the ketubah is the jewish marriage contract...I think...FH is Jewish, I'm Episcopalian. HTH

Re: Jewish Brides - Ketubah Question

Since our Rabbi is FH's cousin's husband we'll probably buy our own.
