lolol that would be a nice way to think of it.i don't have to commute to work really..but FH has to make it to the police academy...and there is no grace period for them...if they are not on time...they get in trouble!! for his sake i hope there isn't a strike.....but for you i hope there is. lol

Re: I am the only one hoping for the strike?
I don't really want them to strike because that means no check for FH
And they lose 2 days pay for every 1 day that they strike. But if that's what they have to do to get what they want I'll be right there with him at the picket line

No, I don't think it does. I'm pretty sure it's subway only.

Ug, that does suck. They're so strict. Can he carpool in for a few days? But least your boy still just has to get to the academy... mine will be on the street trying to control the pissed off crowds!
You all better be nice to him!

what up girl!
he's taking the LIRR in...but he's unsure if he'll take a cab downtown to the academy...since techincally he'll have to travel between two 'zones' (according to the contingency plan map) and he may have to pay about $15 each trip! (rather than the normal $2 when 4 of them pile into a cab at once)
hope your man stays safe patroling the streets and crowds. at least he'll get some unique on-the-job experience with this. (trying to be positive)!!

hey!
Wait, the cabs are charging extra during the strike? That's not cool.
And thanks, I hope he stays safe too! I'm nervous for him... New Yorkers can get cranky... but you're right, it's good to get experience!

H*ll yeah they are charging extra for cabs!!! If a strike happens...they will not be using the fare meter. Instead...Manhattan will be divided into 4 'zones' [A to D and the outer boroughs will be considered E-H]. cabs have the right to charge up to $10 per person for travel within any 1 zone...if you go into another zone they will charge you an add'l $5 per person for each zone.
