Feeling a little emotional.....

...at the thought of this being my last Xmas as a non-married woman. It's just me, my Mom, and My Dad on Christmas mornings....I'm sad knowing we'll be switching off each year. Next year we'll probably stay over IL's house and wake up ther Xmas morning. I feel bad leaving my parents alone on Xmas morning.

Does anyone else feel like that?

Re: Feeling a little emotional.....

I have been having the same emotions all week long! This year is already changing for us. I have my own house now with FH & I told him I need to go home on Christmas Eve & sleep at my parents. I want it to be one more year of our normal tradition!

The other thing is, my brother is coming down Christmas morning from Maine with my nephew. It is his 1st Christmas! So it is going to be very different this year!!

Just remember something, you will be making new memories & traditions with your FH & soon to be family!

Re: Feeling a little emotional.....

I really thought I'd feel like that but I don't .... yet! Maybe it'll hit Christmas morning.

I'm still hoping/anticipating being with my family on Christmas Day but I'm also looking forward to 'hopefully' doing Christmas morning with my FH.

I think also, I'll never know when/if my FH will be working on Christmas so I know there may be times when I may just go home for the holidays.

I'm also excited to start some new traditions... things have gotten stale!

Re: Feeling a little emotional.....

You're right. It will be different, but wonderful. And this time next year, I'll have a little niece to share Xmas with too...FSIL is due in january.

Re: Feeling a little emotional.....

Yeah - I am so sad about it! Christmas is HUGE at my house - my mom does it all up. I am 24 and I am still excited for Xmas morning (haha), even my FH has his own stocking at my house. While I am sad not to have Xmas at home next year, I am VERY excited for FH and my first Xmas in our home! Our own tree, our own stockings, just us in the morning

That's exactly how I feel!

I'm looking forward to spending Christmas Eve in Jersey next year, sleeping at my own house (and not driving to LI at 10:30 at night), maybe merging the 'families' a bit... but then still going to my aunt's house for Christmas Day.

My immediate family has been going to the Poconos the night of Christmas too... and I love that tradition....so I'm not so focused on that 'christmas morning' thing.

Ok, not to have a sollioquy or anything, but my Dad also sometimes worked on Christmas... so I guess I'm used to having things altered from year to year....

This is exactly how I feel...I am not 100% sure what I am doing yet this year...If we aren't doing our 'traditional' christmas morning until my brother gets here, then I will sleep with FH at our house! It is just so hard to get out of tradition!

I am just looking forward to FH opening his gifts at our house under our tree

Double all that! (Just knock the age down to 23 ) I love Christmas with my family, but I am kinda excited about our own Christmas next year. Actually I'm going out on Monday to buy a tree for us for next year!

Re: Feeling a little emotional.....

I am a little sad that this is the last xmas in my house with my mom ( even though we barley stay at home)-it is strange to think next year I will be decorating my own tree in my own home-

I am very very sad about it because next Christmas I will be 3500 miles away in England. I won't see my family at all!!

Re: Feeling a little emotional.....

You know my FIL's often have both sides visit them, they all meet at one house and theres like six different families there, all by blood and/or marriage. (j/k about the blood and marriage part) Maybe your parents will join in with them.

Re: Feeling a little emotional.....

omg I am like freaking about this. My dad put the presents under the tree already and I was SO SO SO mad at him. My mom always does it chrostmas eve night after we all go to sleep so that we can wake up and be surprised. I feel like it is my last year of tradition and he wrecked it!!!!

Anyway.. I think we will still be coming to my house xmas morning at least until we have kids. It is SO SO werid to think of not waking up here that morning though! FH always sleeps over and we get up early, open presents etc.
