Re: wedding center

If you mean the Commack Wedding Center on Wicks Road behind McDonalds I recommend you run a search and then beware.

From what I know, they limit the number of dresses you can try on per visit AND they charge BY THE DAY to hold onto the dress after they call you and tell you it is in, should you decide to order from them.

Re: wedding center

I ordered my BM dresses from there and everything came out just fine. No problems at all. I ordered the BM Dresses in Sept. and they came in at the end of November. They are really busy there though.

Re: wedding center

i'm getting a package from them for photo/video since FH and i had a super tight budget. i don't think i'll be using them for BM dresses or my gown. heard negative things about that department..(and also positive, but i have a few other places i wanna search instead)

like any "wedding center" or "plaza" there are + and - things you hear about them. their record with the BBB is actually pretty good
Here's a link to their BBB report

I like that they've been in business for many years, and family owned.

Re: wedding center

I went there to look at BM dresses - it was pretty empty when I went though and they let my BM try on a ton of dresses. We ended up buying at Burton's though because it was a bigger hike to get to the wedding center.

Bought my dress there. I loved it. The sales girl gave me the most gorgeous jasmine dress to try on. I'm going to get my BM dresses there as well.

Please only listen to people that have actually used them. There are some people that talk bad about them because they weren't handed champagne when they walked in. (Not kidding! Someone got angry that I booked with them because of this) If you are looking for a place that will treat you like a queen and fan you with leaves while you eat strawberries and drink champagne, go somewhere else. If you are looking for a place that can get you the same dress you tried on at the queen salon for half the price, you found it.

To discuss the above post.......

They limit the number of dresses you can try on when you go on the weekends. Go on a weekday. Also, they charge you by the day if you haven't picked up your item after 30 days.

I have an entire package with them that includes photog, video, flowers, invitations, rings, dj and limo. I can't speak for everything yet, but our invitations and FH's ring are great! They were recommended to me by many brides. The only negative I have heard *from people that actually used them* is about their alterations. Other than that, go for it!

Re: wedding center

Wow! Champagne and strawberries??? I didn't get that anywhere I went. LOL. I went to the Wedding Center on a Saturday and tried on a bunch of dresses. Some of the ladies there seemed a bit snooty but I was helped by Lois (she's there Tues, Thurs and Sat) who was so friendly and helpful. She kept bringing over additional dresses besides the ones I had picked that I might like, and there seemed to be no limit as to what I could try on. I ended up choosing a Jasmine that I tried on there but ordered it from Burton's b/c their price was better. I might go back there to get some extras or gifts though. All in all, I had a pleasant experience. Good Luck.

Re: wedding center

I think it really depends on the day that you go and who's there... it's totally hit or miss...

The first time I went to Commack Wedding Center I was OK with it and the people. The owner Bob was very nice and sweet.

But I took my girls back today for BM dresses and was REALLY disappointed at the way we were treated. We spent an hour downstairs trying on BM dresses and were rushed by the women who wanted to know exactly what we wanted.... of course you know that's an impossible question when you have 2 girls trying on gowns with different body types.... we had pictures though and searched on our own and found stuff, so we were doing fine... then they send us upstairs because one of the BM dresses we had brought a picture of was really a Mother of the Bride dress.... so we go up to that section and start looking... and this woman working there snaps at us that we aren't allowed to look in the section until we've "signed in"... and my mom says "um, where do we sign in?" and she points in a random direction. Eventually we see a yellow post it pad to sign in on in another room. I write my name, and we wait for 10 minutes outside the section. I just wanted to know if they even had the dress, so I go up to the woman to ask her (there was no one up there in the room waiting for help, so I dont know what the wait/sign in deal was about) and she snaps at me again. In the meantime, my mom had found my wedding gown on the rack and wanted me to try it on again for my BMs who hadn't seen it. Now I'm standing there holding a BIG wedding gown, standing around like an idiot waiting for a dressing room for 20 minutes when there was no one trying anything on and 3 workers in the dressing rooms doing nothing. Finally my mom says this is ridiculous and we go to turn around and leave, and miraculously my name is called.

Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I didn't expect champagne and strawberries, but at least a smile and some genuine (or feigned) interest in the customers would be nice.

Re: wedding center

Any more info, ladies? I met Bob at a bridal show last night and I really didn't like him but FH thought he was great. He asked if I got a gown and I said I did and he was like oooooooooh....you spent too much, but I'll forgive you. I could have saved you $900...yeah, okay. Anyway, FH wants to look at him for photo & video. Thoughts?

My GF got her dress there and had a good experience. She did say that Bob was a little annoying, but they have been in business 30 years..they have to be doing something right.

Re: wedding center

my fsil used a package from them for her wedding and i definitely think it's a case of "you get what you pay for."

the only thing she didn't get from them was her own dress. FH was a gm and there were several problems with his tux. 2 of them didn't fit properly and the buttons of FH's tux fell off before the ceremony even started. the bestman's dress shirt meanwhile was a different shade than everyone else's for some reason. their RR also broke down 3 times between the church and the reception hall (and that was only about 15 minutes away). as for the photos, fsil got her proofs about 9 months after her wedding and i was disappointed when i saw the shots.

however, i guess i should point out that fsil is fine with all of the above (and i wouldn't blame her since she only paid about 1/5th of what i'm paying for my vendors)
