NWR- my jaw hurts

I woke up this morning with pain on the right side or my jaw, especially when I open my mouth (it was not pleasant eating an apple before). Anyone have any ideas on what this could be?

Re: NWR- my jaw hurts

Do you grind your teeth? I get the same thing, it's TMJ. I grind my teeth when I sleep and when I wake up my jaw is sore. Nothing really they can do for it. They may suggest a bite plate to sleep with if you do grind, but usually some pain killer or muscle relaxer will relieve some of the pain.

Re: NWR- my jaw hurts

Do you still have your wisdom teeth on that side of you mouth, because it could be an impacted wisdom tooth. HTH

Re: NWR- my jaw hurts

It can also be a sinus issue. That happens to me sometimes (one time when I had to go to the dentist so it was miserable). They did all of these 'tests' to determine if it was TMJ. It ended up being something with my sinuses.

Re: NWR- my jaw hurts

No, I don't grind my teeth.. and I had my wisdom teeth out.
I have had pain related to my sinuses, but this didn't feel the same-
The weirdest thing just happened though, I started chewing a piece of gum, and it was hurting, so I was going to spit it out, and then something popped and the pain stopped. I guess I fixed it!
