Did anyone get their teeth bleached?

I was just wondering if anyone has had their teeth professionally whitened/bleached. I've used home kits before, but I hate what it does to my gums. And how long before the wedding should I have it done? Thanks girlies!

Re: Did anyone get their teeth bleached?

I did the Zoom treatment at my dentist. 2 treatments for one hour each. It was easy, and really painless.

Re: Did anyone get their teeth bleached?

I had BriteSmile. Worked great and has lasted; I'm about six shades whiter. I went to Dr. Brian Raskin in Valley Stream. His site is:

www.advanceddds.com. It's $$$ but worth it. About $500.

Re: Did anyone get their teeth bleached?

My Dentist told me it was silly to pay a lot for teeth whitening, he recommended crest white strips, withing a couple of days my teeth were sooo much whiter

I am going to do it again before the wedding

You definitely can't...I asked my dentist and unfortunately bleaching only works for real teeth.

Re: Did anyone get their teeth bleached?

I did the teeth whitening before the wedding. I got it through my dentist. They take a mold of your mouth so case fits exactly to your teeth. It is some what expensive but worth it, your teeth come out hollywood white! At my dentist it costs $500 but he gave it to me for $350. He said that was his wedding gift to me. He gave me enough bleach to last me a year or so. My mom liked the way my teeth looked so much she went out and bought it too.

I did mine about 2 weeks before the wedding. It does not bleach bondings for sure or porcelain veneers ( I think).

Re: Did anyone get their teeth bleached?

I once got a kit from Ebay that worked really well...better than the White Strips...it cost me about $10 or $15, I'll see if I can find the seller's name. It was a plastic case that molds to your teeth and some gel that you put in them.

Otherwise, my dentist charges about $375 and $700 for 2 different types of treatments.

Re: Did anyone get their teeth bleached?

Crest White Strips did an amazing job for my teeth. I recommend if anyone decides to use them, that before you do you start brushing your teeth for a couple of weeks with a toothpaste like Sensodyne. Because of the high percentage of peroxide on the strips, your teeth can become really sensitive.

Re: Did anyone get their teeth bleached?

So you mean, we should use sensodyne toothpaste first before using white strips?

Re: Did anyone get their teeth bleached?

Yes, the strips make your teeth and gums sensitive after a while...the best way to use them is to make sure not to use them right after you brush your teeth. Doing that seems to make them extra sensitive.

I used to use them on my way home from work, and that worked out pretty well sensitivity wise.

Re: Did anyone get their teeth bleached?

I have really sensitive teeth. My dentist recommended the 'classic' crest white strips. THey were ok, but they did make my teeth a little sensitive and I hated the goo on my teeth from the strips.

I bought listerine pre-brish whitening rinse - it is great! It probably does not go as far as the strips, etc., but i does work and it would proabably be good for maintenance.

Anyway, if you are as sensitive as me (I use sensitive teeth toothpast on a regular basis), the listerine stuff might be an option.
