Honeymoon in Costa Rica - July

Planning to go to Costa Rica in July for honeymoon. My fiance (and I) don't want to stay anywhere that is 'standard'/too touristy, but beautiful. BUT I want to stay in a nice place where hot water is not considered an amenity. Any help on the area as well as the hotel would be GREAT. Thanks!!

Re: Honeymoon in Costa Rica - July

We went to CR in July 2 years ago. It is off-peak season and I think considered the rainy season as well. It only rained at night though once or twice. We went to the Arenal volcano, Tabacon hot springs, Monteverde Cloud Forest (did zip line tours), river tour, and spent the last few days on the beach in Guanacaste. The only thing I wish we did was ww rafting. If you want an eco-touristic honeymoon, CR is definitely a great place. It just seemed weird that it was off-season but yet there really weren't that many people around at the resorts etc. Maybe it was the area we were in, although we covered a lot of the country.

Re: Honeymoon in Costa Rica - July

There really aren't any touristy areas in CR, especially if you go in July b/c that is the off season. I suggest going North, though- to Guanacaste/ Tamarindo area. The Central Pacific Coast is kind of dirty-ish and more for the rugged surfer, I don't care if a gecko is in my bed type. The Northern area is more resort and large hotel oriented and has better weather in the summer
