The OFFICIAL Card box Thread
Ladies post your card boxes and instructions here. Here is one I found -
Directions: The card box is really easy to make. I just got three sizes of round/hat boxes at Joann's and the rest of the supplies at Micheals (ribbon, hot glue gun, beading, etc). Here's how to do it: 1. Spray paint each box color of choice. 2. When dry, flip biggest box upside down (lid on bottom) and hot glue it into it's top to secure bottom. 3. Without its lid, trace the middle-sized box in center of big box. Cut out a hole w/ box cutters (easier than scissors) slightly smaller than (inside of) the circle traced on the bottom of the big box. This will allow cards to fall to bottom of box, but there will be enough space to glue middle box onto big box. 4. Without its lid, trace the smallest box in center of middle sized box. Cut out a hole w/ box cutters (easier than scissors) slightly smaller than (inside of) the circle traced. 5. On the bottom of the smallest box, cut a slit wide and long enough to fit cards in. 6. Without their lids, hot glue the middle sized box upside down (bottom up) to the biggest box and hot glue the smallest box onto the middle box. Now it should look like an undecorated cake. 7. Here's where your creativity comes in...decorate using the hot glue any way you want! I just chose the beading and mesh ribbon that matched my BM dresses. Note: if using shear/mesh ribbon like I did, only hot glue in the 'back' of the box b/c the hot glue will show through it. Other ideas: use silk flowers to decorate that would match bouquets; use square boxes and decorate to look like presents.

Re: The OFFICIAL Card box Thread
Here's ours...totally not like anyone else's, but neither are we.
We figured we could use it later as a mini ottoman! ...also used the extra fabric to make pillow for our livingroom. (and we did!)
Directions:
Cardbox was made from a plant holder found at AC Moore......only $9 and change. (AnniesSS was my inspiration!)
Then we went to Home Depot and bought a piece of wood (pine) had them cut the pieces we needed for the top and the bottom.
The top was a pain. We didn't have the right tools, so we had to drill and use a Dremel to make the opening.
Then AnniesSS (who gave me the idea of the planter box), also let me have her extra batting.
I went to The Fabric Mill, which is loaded with all different kinds of fabric..and bought a yard of the leafy fabric. I ended up buying a yard of it because I figured I could use the extra for pillows, since it matced our livingroom so much. Then I stapled it on the wood (I watch too much Trading Spaces!)
I then fastened the top on with corner brackets and fastened the bottom on with screws...this way we can take out the cards.
I stained it with a 'vermont maple' stain.
For the carving...
First I printed out a large enough monogram (font-Amazone BT) and layed it out on the box. Then I traced over it a couple of times. The wood is pine so it's soft and made an impression. Then I carved away using a Dremel.
Close up of the carving:

ETA: Here's a shot of it on the gift table in the back corner...best shot I have on my computer now. HTH!

Re: The OFFICIAL Card box Thread
Here's Mine! I am still waiting to find a lazy susan I can find and like and secure the top on. But here are pics with instructions...
Here is the info for the Photocube...
Michael's- Frames on sale 4.99 4 8X10 wood ones, 1.99 glue gun with extra sticks, and the foam material. I like the hard flat foam as opposed to the puffy kind.
AC Moore - Matte boards. I like the ones they had so I made an extra trip to AC Moore.
ACE hardware - L brackets and buy SMALL screws. I bought the L brackets but the screws were too large so I almost went all the way through with frame. Buy extra at least 8 small screws to use with the L brackets.
Wal-Mart- Fabric I got 2 yards just in case.
Drill- I borrowed from Future FIL along with drill bits.
Have a screw driver around, the smaller the better since it gets harder to screw it together when you start to close the box in.
The hardest part with finding the right pictures I wanted to use and putting them in the matte boards.
I tried to attempt this project alone and almost went crazy so when I called for FH to help he was happy and it only took one night to drill small holes to start and then screw it in and it was done no problems.
For the top I used the hard foam and cut it out with a box cutter and put the fabric on. I used my hot glue gun to glue the fabric down on the under side of the foam. It holds well.
Good Luck!!
When all is done it really was a fun DIY project.

Re: The OFFICIAL Card box Thread
I made ours for our e-party. My mom will make me a card purse (tradition) for the wedding.Mine was very simple because it did not have to be as formal as a wedding day one. Cut the slot in the bottom, taped together side and left the top flaps open (which was turned upside down in the end). Wrapped it with aqua wrapping paper, including the flaps so that we can get the cards out from the bottom. I had the frames which were just $1.00 each wood 8x10 frames that I had just painted aqua and distressed for another project but decided to do this! I then poked holes in the top of all four sides and tied the frames on with aqua ribbon so that they can be removed and hung (which they have been!). To keep them from swaying, I put a bit of fun-tac under the bottom corner of the frames. And viola! I loved how it came out! I'm going to rewrap the box in white and paint up some new frames for a bride who lost everything in Katrina. So it will not go to waste and it will not sit in my closet!

Start with small things! You'd be surprised how much tiny little embellishment can make a simple card or box a wonderful wedding item!!! And so you have DIY!!!
