Looking at reception halls..
Just starting the process of finding a hall. Do most places schedule appointments on Sat?

Some will if they don't have a day wedding going on.

Re: Looking at reception halls..
I've only looked at halls during the week because the usually have events going on during the weekends. I would call the halls you are interested and see if they have specific days to which they have appointments.

Re: Looking at reception halls..
I found that just about all of them do, except if there is a wedding scheduled they will want you to come in before it starts. Just call a few places and make an appointment. Good luck.

Re: Looking at reception halls..
I live in Boston, so I had to schedule all my appointments on weekends. Most places were pretty accomodating and would let me come in before the receptions started. Now is a good time to look (if you're planning on doing it on weekends) since there are fewer weddings this time of year, and it's less likely that the halls are 100% booked for the entire day (as happens in the summer). When I was looking last January, a lot of the places let us come in during the afternoon because they only had weddings booked for Saturday night.HTH!

Re: Looking at reception halls..
It depends on the place. I was able to look at most places on a Saturday or Sunday but some places won't let you see all the rooms if there is an event going on. But since FH and I both live out of town most places were able to work with us. Also, if you are starting to look now you might have an easier time making appointments since it is the 'off-season.' Good luck!

Re: Looking at reception halls..
Not that I recall...I believe we looked at each place during the week. Some places may depending upon if whether or not they have an event going on. You should definitely call before you go just to confirm.
Good luck

Re: Looking at reception halls..
Some let you go when they have weddings on Sat, others let you come in before their early afternoon wedding or in between their two weddings. You don't want to see too many in a day, they start to look the same!

Re: Looking at reception halls..
I thought the best way to see halls was on Sat. or Sun. a.m. when the room is set up before the people arrive. All the halls I saw were willing to schedule this time, this way I could see the room all set up.

Re: Looking at reception halls..
I took a day off from work with FH and we went to 6 reception halls so that we would be able to take our time and go through all the various rooms. However if you shcedule appointments I am sure you can look at Saturdays however it will take a few weeks to probably see everyone you are interested in.

HTH!
Same here (except I am not in Boston....) I only looked at one place and I went on a weekend. I went in the morning, and it was cool because I saw the place getting set up for a wedding. I went back a few times, always on the weekends. They were very accomodating since I was coming from 3000 miles away.

Re: Looking at reception halls..
the best way to do it is call the hall, tell them what you want, if you want to come and see it before the room is set up, make sure you say that to them, and make sure that you are on time, because say for example you set a appointment up for 5:00 and the wedding starts at 5:30, if you get there late they will not let you see the room, and you have wasted a trip out there. so make sure you give yourself plenty of time. its also nice to go on the weekdays because its not as crazy and you can take your time, and also most places will have their ballrooms set up for show anyway.Welcome New Vendors
