my first dress experience - my moms!
So after months of wanting to try on my mothers wedding dress/veil, I finally climbed into the attic space today and pulled out the box... she had told me she took it out of preservation years ago to try it on again, to see if it would fit so didnt know how it would be now... We got it out, and it did yellow quite a bit, but I stlil tried it on and danced around my house a bit, hehe.... the veil is actually fine, but she had one of those 'juliet caps' which was aparently all the rage in the 70's so I think I may cut the veil off of the cap, and have it sewed onto a comb or something to use for my veil, cause its exactly what I want (although I don't have a dress to go with it yet, lol) its a 2-tiered... a blusher with a really long second layer (cathedral maybe?)And theres a lacey thing on the top of her dress which also managed to stay fine, so we may cut that off and incorporate it somehow into my dress or something.
It was fun, and it really amazed me, cause I know that i'm like my mom, everybody tells me how i'm like her identical twin, but its weird how her dress is so similar to the type that I'm looking for (except for the few details of the times, like the cap thing).
So that was my fun dress trying on experience, and I am gonna have my something old :o)

That is so great... I wish my mom still had her dress so I could use parts of it (there would never be a way I could wear it..im 5'8 like 180 and she is 5'2 110 lbs) I love family traditions and like things pased on so its great that you two can share that

No... I'm gonna get a regular dress from a store - i was just surprised at how similar her dress was from the type of dress I have in mine for myself - sheath w. lace - that kinda thing
The veil I will have one of my aunts probably re-make it, and the lace I'm cutting off from her dress, i'm not sure what to do with yet, but I will probably have it.
