Re: hair straightening
Village Hair and Nail in Woodside. Complete straightening by Japanese $ 170 and my hair is past my shoulders and curly. Best money I ever spent. Its been 6 months and I still rarely blow dry it. Should last 9 months to a year but I know some vary!

I did it about a year ago and it was great. I really loved it and it was a great time saver in the morning.

Re: hair straightening
Yes, I've had Japanese hair Straightening. I went to Queens to get it done - Hair Village. I don't have any color in my hair and I think that matters. I've had a lot of people 'raving' about my hair. I love it! I know that some people get it done and it makes the hair look very dry.I can get you the number of Hair Village if you need it.

I went to Village Hair in Woodside too! Its amazing and affordable. My hair is straight and never ever frizzes! I get it done every 10 months or so .... when you go back you only have to get the roots done.

I have highlights and go to hair village. The only difference is that they put a protector on but the results are fabulous. Although if you dont have any color in your hair Im sure its in better condition.

It's not a touch-up w/the roots like they do with high-lights.
When you get JS - they do the entire process from root to end.
I get it done every 9 months, my mom every 6 months b/c her hair grows faster and curlier.

Re: hair straightening
if you have had in the past year any highlights ( even if they are covered up) please think twice about straightening. i am a hairstylist andi have had to deal with soooo many people coming to me after their js in tears.there are alot of people that it is FABULOUS for.... but its a risk.
js makes your hair pin straight and flat ... meaning ...trying to get volume at the roots when it is newly done is near to impossible.
if you get it done....please dont go discount. go somewhere where if they dont think you should do it..that they will tell you.
alot of 'cheaper' places are like a factory ...
not trying to tell you not to..just trying to give you the flip side.
good luck xo jenn

Re: hair straightening
Just wondering, do you still have to blow dry it every day or can you just let it dry naturally (sans frizz and curl)?

Re: hair straightening
i got the thermal reconditioning process done in november. It was my first time. Let me say... i can't believe i didn't do this sooner. My hair is exactly how i wanted it to be when i blew dried it out. Now i just wake up and i don't even have to blow dry it at all. I do because its winter, but in the summer... no way. I've waited a long time to jump out of that shower, brush my hair and run out the door.
I definitely plan on doing this for as long as i possibly can! Every week i'm still saying to my FH how much i love my hair. There's no more days that i feel like crap and look like crap (because my hair isn't straight) so therefore i won't go out. I always felt that if i looked better... i'd feel better. Now when i look like ****... you can't tell as much!!
If that makes any sense. GET IT DONE!!! ITS SO WORTH IT AND IT SAVES SO MUCH TIME EACH DAY!!! I got it done at Hayato in nyc.

Re: hair straightening
I want to add ...that I have no problem getting volume - i set my hair in hot rollers and spray it and it looks awesome. I love Japanese Straightening.
Also - at hair village they just touch up the roots they do NOT re-treat from root to tip. The results are amazing and my hair has never been healthier. Because I dont have to use the flat iron everyday - I just blow dr it or let it air dry. Its amazing!
