Costa Rica or Napa/Hawaii?

We're planning our honeymoon for early October....and can't decide whether to do Costa Rica or Napa for a few days and then Hawaii.

October is part of Costa Rica's rainy season - but I'm not sure just how rainy that means.

My FH has been to Hawaii with family - it was years ago and he didn't go to all the islands.

...any opinions/input?

Re: Costa Rica or Napa/Hawaii?

HI
What are Costa Rica's rainy months exactly? We've recently started to consider CR as a HM spot as well and would love to know. TIA

Re: Costa Rica or Napa/Hawaii?

I have been having similar stresses too.....We were debating between CR and Napa (do not have enough time off for Hawaii). I didn't want to go to Aruba, but I've been told it's the safest bet for weather in October.

If you have the time I would do the Napa, Hawaii. Or you can look online at one of those Almanac sites and see if they share the weather conditions for that time of year in the past few years.

good luck!!!

Re: Costa Rica or Napa/Hawaii?

I am actually planning on doing Napa then Hawaii.. Haven't planned anything yet. You are my date twin. October is suppose to be one of the best months in Hawaii with little/no rain.

Re: Costa Rica or Napa/Hawaii?

we are going to costa rica in the beginning of their rainy season. from what I have heard it depends on where you go, but for the most part it only rains for a short time during the day. I have also heard that it is much more beautiful there during rainy season, because everything is green.

Re: Costa Rica or Napa/Hawaii?

We were in CR in mid November, and the rain was just a hard pour in the afternoon. You can see it coming froma mile away, and it only lasts an hour or so. It brings down the temp, too.
I LOVED CR, but we are going to Hawaii.
CR can be done really cheap, though.
Have fun, and good luck!

Re: Costa Rica or Napa/Hawaii?

We are planning a trip to CR in July, also part of the 'green' rainy season. Our travel agent said that means it rains a few times a day for 20 min, not a big deal, also if you go to the northern/western section, it is much dryer and may not rain at all he said...we are splitting our trip half south (more jungle/prettier) and half north (beach).

hawaii is usually good weather sooo it depends. CR has a ton to do so we skipped over it for our HM.

GL, both are terrific places!

Re: Costa Rica or Napa/Hawaii?

If you are up for a more 'adventourous' honeymoon, I would go to CR...BUT if you jsut want to relax on the beach with occasional activity, go for Hawaii!! I am doing Hawaii b/c I know I will need a break by then! Good Luck!
