Bridesmaid dresses
How much are your bm dresses costing? Im feeling guilty because most weddings i have been in i was given a color and told to pick my own dress-- The dress I wanted for my sister is 300 - is that reasonable?

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
I think that's reasonable. Mine cost $245 (without tax). That price reflects the discount that the shop gives if you also buy your wedding dress from them.If you really feel guilty about it, why not offer to pay a portion of the cost.

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
I think it's high. I had two options picked out for my BM's, one was $200 and $137, they picked the cheaper one, which was fine because I liked it better. I guess it really depends on what they can afford. Don't forget they'll have to pay for a lot of other things too.

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
That is a little on the high side, but it depends. I would discuss the cost w/ your BM's. You could also pay for a portion of it as part of their gift to help them w/ the cost. The dress that I am using for my BM's is $180.

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
Of course it all depends on what kind of financial situation your bridal party is in - but personally I think that's alot to pay for a BM dress. I've never been in a wedding where the dress was over $200, and I found mine for my girls for $118.

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
I think that is kind of high. My girls paid $140. Have you shopped around? Can you find that gown for less?

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
Mine were only $125. I personally would be pissed if I had to spend $300 on a dress. Just my opinion though. Because $300 is just the base cost...then add on alterations, shoes...etc. That'll be mighty pricey.

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
$300 is a little expensive but, if your sister is willing to pay, go for it. If it is just your sister, then it is easy to get a more expensive dress. If you are worried about it, you could always offer to pay some for a gift.If you have more then one girl, those are expensive dresses. My girls would not have the money for them. You also have to include alterations that are at least $70. Shoes, hair, Makeup.
My dresses were $199 and I got a 10% discount bringing them down to $179. I acutally felt guilty about that price.

I have one bridesmaid in addition to my sister, but im giving her the choice of several dresses in the same line - so she can choose one of the more inexpensive ones if she wants

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
If you only have two girls, then I think it is ok. Just make sure that if they are going to pay that much for a dress, that they LOVE it and would plan on wearing it again! Maybe choose a simple style that is very versatile...Since I chose a dress that I loved, I made sure it was inexpensive. $117!! Yay!!

Re: Bridesmaid dresses
IMHO I think it is high. I think you also have to take into acount more importantly can they afford that price tag? Would that be too much to ask you BM's for? Run it by your sister or mom first and see what they think. You know your girls budget. I wanted to save as much money as I can so I orderd thier dresses at RK bridal since I was the most pocket friendly.Good Luck!
