Advice to all future brides
Okay...I just got my proofs back and have the most important advice I could possibly give...MAKE SURE TO REQUEST A LOT OF PICTURES OF BRIDE AND GROOM LOOKING AT CAMERA SMILING. I've read everywhere that a lot of brides are disappointed because there aren't a lot of just couple shots and I'm one of them. FOR YOUR OWN SAKE, MAKE SURE TONS OF THESE ARE TAKEN! It seems obvious, but don't assume anything.
Second bit, girls who have chest fat
make sure to be conscious of your arms and don't put them pressed against your sides. SUCH A REGRET!Third bit, it seems to be the latest way to take pictures is on an angle. On an angle....anywho, 80% of my pictures are on an angle, not straight on, you kind of have to tilt your head 45 degrees to your left to get an idea. I understand the artistic aspect but I'm a simple girl and like the standard pictures. Make sure to communicate that.
And fourth, make sure you research pictures of brides and grooms at your reception site/ ceremony, so you get ideas of places/ poses you want to take. Again, don't assume the photographers know the best angles or spots to take pictures for all reception sites.
*******It should be said that I don't think this is specific to the photographer I used because I've heard similar vendor reviews of other photography studios. I think so much of it may be the trend of the way pictures are taken. Communication is just the most important thing you can do with the photographers shooting your wedding.
Thats the best advice I can give

When you are holding your bouquet, don't press your arms against your sides. Kind of move your elbows further out from your sides so that your skin isn't bunched up against your body.

Re: Advice to all future brides
fat arms.. i have perfected the 'solution' you gotta start practicing your pose with your arms slightly out (but not obviously out)... cause if you keep them by your side... the fat tends to spread ALL over... I may be 155 in real life.. but can pull off at least 140 with my arms a half an inch off my bodyhave someone take lots of pics of you posing wiht a digital in various positions.. kinda like a practice run wear a top similar to your dress so you get an idea of where it spreads too...then look at them and use the best way for you on your special day

Re: Advice to all future brides
The idea of holding arms out also applies to muscular arms... I hate my former gymnastic coaches for one thing... my shoulders are friggin huge from all the push ups and chin ups I did as a kid and when I stand sideways for a pic... I swear all you see is my big upper arm! I have very petite forearms which doesn't help and I work out my lower arms trying to 'bulk' them up to catch up with my upper arm... not too much luck so far. FH thinks I'm nuts, but holding your arm out keeps everything from being pressed and therefore looking huge. I also try to stand straight instead of sideways and had every intention of warning my photographer of my 'arm issues'.I'm sure though that you can edit/crop some of the pics to take attention away from your arms. Just a thought, not sure what it's worth.

Re: Advice to all future brides
Jimmysgirl- you know what, I've honestly been thinking about talking to my photog about the same thing. I noticed that a lot of photojournalists and such, take so many pictures from angles and not a lot of your smiling faces. I think in the future people will regret that. I'm really sorry this happened to you, though
Also, I am going to talk to my photog about no profile shots, that's big these days too, but my profile is awful.

omg - I have the SAME problem with this. I have beautiful pictures of him looking at me with me looking away, me looking at him, with him faded out in the background... While these pictures are beautiful, they are not something my Mom wants to hang in her living room and they are not appropriate for my Thank You picture.
Would you mind FM-ing me the name of your photographer?
I am so sorry you are going through this, but at least you are warning others about your experience!!!!

Re: Advice to all future brides
This is a great thread! I really appreciate all of the advice and will certainly take everything into concideration when talking to the photographer. I also have broad shoulders (former gymnast too!) and when I work out my arms, they tend to only get bigger. It is really tricky but I'll try to pull it off. Lol. Thanks girlies. You guys rock!
