Father/Daughter dance
Question ladies...Do you tell your Dad what your father/daughter dance song will be, or do you surprise him with it??

Re: Father/Daughter dance
We discussed it. I know he is an Elvis fan so I researched the lyrics and gave him final decision on which one - we danced to 'The Wonder of You'.

Re: Father/Daughter dance
I surprised my dad at our e-party (Have I Told You Lately That I love You), he was so happy and shocked!! After it he told me he wanted to dance to 'Daddy's Little Girl' at the wedding not my first choice but if its what he wants then thats good with me. I would like to have surprised him for the wedding also because it is more meaningful for them to hear what song you chose and the words.

Re: Father/Daughter dance
I'm finding it so hard to pick a song that captures my feelings and relationship with him!!! We are as close as can be, but live miles and miles apart. I don't want to go with the traditional ones...I want something different. Any suggestions??

I had a music box made (not like a girly music box, but I little trinket box that he could keep stuff like watches, change, etc. in) that played 'Butterfly Kisses' and gave it to him at the rehearsal dinner. He didn't know until he opened the box.

I picked Lullabye by Billy Joel since it meant something to me. I asked my dad first if he wanted anything and he did not know then I found the perfect song.
You will find yours! Good Luck!

Same here. He wants 'Daddy's Little Girl.' I would really prefer another song, but he told me it's something he's been looking forward to for a long time. How could I argue with that?

Re: Father/Daughter dance
We've known forever that we are going to dance to 'Sunshine of My Life' by Stevie Wonder...Dad used to sing that to me when I was a little girl.

Re: Father/Daughter dance
I can definitely understand why you want it to be a little different...I chose, because my Dad (the big tuff man that he is) cried during Father of the Bride, the song that Steve Martin had with his daughter which was 'My Girl' by the temptations so we are going to do that.
I wanted to surprise him but I couldn't help myself and told him!
My sister is going with Through the Years by Kenny Rogers. The words are really nice.
Others that are nice...
Forever Young, Rod Stewart
You are the sunshine of my life, Stevie Wonder
You Raised Me Up, Josh Grobin
Because you loved me, Celine Dion
Isn't she lovely, Stevie Wonder
Just the way you are, Billy Joel
Way you look tonight, Frank Sinatra
Wind beneath my wings, Bette Midler

I am such a sap. I can't wait to dance with dad to it!
Goodnight, my angel
Time to close your eyes
And save these questions for another day
I think I know what you've been asking me
I think you know what I've been trying to say
I promised I would never leave you
And you should always know
Wherever you may go
No matter where you are
I never will be far away
Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to sleep
And still so many things I want to say
Remember all the songs you sang for me
When we went sailing on an emerald bay
and like a boat out on the ocean
I'm rocking you to sleep
THe water's dark
And deep inside this ancient heart
You'll always be a part of me
Goodnight, my angel
Now it's time to dream
And dream how wonderful your life will be
Someday your child may cry
And if you sing this lullabye
Then in your heart
There will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone
But lullabyes go on and on...
They never die
That's how you
And I
Will be

I ordered from the website giftsonline.net. The one that I got had room for three photos on the front...I put in one of me and my dad at my christening, one of us on my communion and left the third one blank for us on my wedding. He loved it.
